  • Create and maintain documentation, including diagrams, procedures, and knowledge articles.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting for escalated incidents, including root‑cause analysis.
  • Support complex or non‑standard R&D configurations, specialized tools, and test environments.
  • Manage escalation paths and engage other IT teams or vendors as required.
  • Conduct system health checks, performance monitoring, and preventative maintenance.
  • Assist with onboarding/offboarding, including access, permissions, and environment setup.
  • Maintain accurate asset records for servers, workstations, specialised equipment, and software.
  • Support endpoint security, including vulnerability remediation and patch compliance.
  • Participate in server, tool, and environment upgrades or migration projects.
  • Contribute to change management through impact assessments and documentation.
  • Provide guidance to the IT Service Desk as an internal escalation point.
  • Support backup validation, disaster‑recovery testing, and business‑continuity readiness.
  • Respond to alerts and monitoring tools to maintain operational continuity.
  • Evaluate and test new tools, technologies, or automation opportunities.

What you need to know about the Belfast Tech Scene

If asked to name the birthplace of the RMS Titanic, you might not say Belfast. Similarly, if asked to name Europe's leading destination for foreign direct investment in new software development, Belfast might not come to mind. Yet, both are true. The city has emerged as a tech powerhouse, recently ranked among the best in the U.K. for tech careers — especially for software developers. It also leads the U.K. with the highest percentage of software development jobs advertised.
