As a fully remote, global company, we’re rewriting the rules of modern business. Named GP Bullhound’s 2024 Top 100 Next Unicorn list, certified as a Great Place to Work, and recognized by Flexa for true flexibility, we’re growing fast and looking for top talent to join our team. If you’re excited to do meaningful work and make real impact, keep reading, this role could be the one you’ve been waiting for.

About the Role:

As a Technical Writer at Camunda, you’ll be embedded within product teams, taking full ownership of documentation for key areas of our platform. You’ll work side-by-side with engineers, product managers, and designers to ensure our documentation is clear, accurate, and deeply aligned with the product experience. This is a hands-on role where you’ll become a subject matter expert, directly shaping the developer journey through high-impact content across the Camunda platform. You’ll be part of a collaborative, mission-driven team focused on helping developers quickly and joyfully become productive with Camunda technologies. Developers with technical writing experience are encouraged to apply.

What you'll be doing:

  • Own and drive the documentation for one or more product areas, acting as the embedded technical writer within the corresponding product teams.

  • Work closely with engineers, product managers, and designers to stay deeply informed about the product roadmap and ensure documentation is accurate, timely, and aligned with feature development.

  • Become a subject matter expert in your assigned product areas, developing hands-on experience with the products to create documentation that reflects real-world usage and developer needs.

  • Lead documentation efforts from concept through release—planning, writing, reviewing, and maintaining content that empowers developers to succeed with Camunda technologies.

  • Advocate for documentation as a critical part of the user experience, bringing the user’s perspective into product discussions and influencing design and implementation where appropriate.

  • Continuously improve the structure, clarity, and completeness of the documentation based on analytics, user feedback, and your own insights.

  • Collaborate with other writers and the broader Documentation team to share best practices, contribute to team goals, and evolve our documentation tooling and standards.

What you bring:

  • 3+ years of technical writing experience and a strong portfolio of developer-focused content such as user guides, installation guides, API references, tutorials, and technical blog posts.

  • Hands-on experience with Java, Kubernetes, Helm, Docker, and related technologies, and a proven ability to deeply understand and use complex technical products (ideally with Camunda 8 or similar products).

  • Experience with writing about on-premise software installation or other technical environments, as well as SaaS and software documentation.

  • Proven ability to tailor content for diverse audiences and technical backgrounds, including software engineers, application developers, business analysts, and process owners.

  • Experience with Docs-as-Code workflows and documentation frameworks such as Docusaurus, with comfort using Git and Markdown in a developer-centric environment.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Comfortable iterating on an existing technical writing style guide, advocating for its use cross-functionally.

  • Experience transitioning from engineers as primary documentation authors to technical writers as primary documentation authors.

What you need to know about the Belfast Tech Scene

If asked to name the birthplace of the RMS Titanic, you might not say Belfast. Similarly, if asked to name Europe's leading destination for foreign direct investment in new software development, Belfast might not come to mind. Yet, both are true. The city has emerged as a tech powerhouse, recently ranked among the best in the U.K. for tech careers — especially for software developers. It also leads the U.K. with the highest percentage of software development jobs advertised.
