This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified lawyer, ideally with 1-3 years’ PQE, who has experience in corporate law, contracts and business organisation, and who is keen to work at the centre of strategic growth, governance and structural change within an international professional services business.

The Opportunity

The General Counsel’s Office plays a central role in supporting the firm’s strategic growth and governance objectives, including activity relating to new offices and branches, strategic mergers, joint ventures and acquisitions, reorganisations, restructurings, and other priority investment workstreams and projects.

As Group Structuring Lawyer, you will support the ongoing management and maintenance of the firm’s global structure and constitution, including entity governance and management projects, new entity set-up, restructurings and partner lifecycle management, working closely with the firm’s tax and finance specialists and the General Counsel’s Office Regulatory Team.

What You'll Do

  • Provide expert advice on the firm’s structure and the constitutional documents that underpin it.
  • Advise, alongside senior colleagues, on changes to the firm’s structure and associated legal, regulatory and compliance issues.
  • Support education, training and other initiatives relating to the group and its structure.
  • Contribute to special projects within the General Counsel’s Office, including amendments to constitutional documents.
  • Undertake research and analysis, provide advice and drafting, interprete legislation and help to develop and implement policies and procedures.
  • Support the Senior Group Structuring Lawyer, the General Counsel and the wider General Counsel’s Office.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Degree-level qualification and a UK qualified lawyer, ideally with 1 to 3 years’ PQE.
  • Experience in corporate law practice, including drafting and advising on contracts and matters relating to business organisation.
  • The ability to provide clear, commercial and decisive advice, including in unfamiliar situations.
  • Confidence managing a workload made up of key projects and day-to-day queries.
  • A strong interest in keeping up to date with relevant regulation, laws and guidance.
  • Strong IT skills, including familiarity with Word, Outlook and Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Strong analytical, research and organisational skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Good drafting skills, with the ability to support senior colleagues on complex documents in a succinct, thorough and plain-English style.
  • Commercial acumen, sound judgement and the ability to balance high standards of accuracy with a practical, common-sense approach.
  • The confidence, presence and diplomatic manner needed to liaise effectively with colleagues at all levels, including senior leaders.
  • A resourceful, motivated and flexible approach, with the ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively as part of a wider team.
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality, build trust and credibility, influence others and remain calm and resilient in a pressurised environment.

What you need to know about the Belfast Tech Scene

If asked to name the birthplace of the RMS Titanic, you might not say Belfast. Similarly, if asked to name Europe's leading destination for foreign direct investment in new software development, Belfast might not come to mind. Yet, both are true. The city has emerged as a tech powerhouse, recently ranked among the best in the U.K. for tech careers — especially for software developers. It also leads the U.K. with the highest percentage of software development jobs advertised.
