CattleEye, a livestock monitoring company based in Belfast, is further investing in research and development to enhance the capabilities of its AI-powered tech. The company, a subsidiary of GEA Farm Technologies, is also creating 20 new jobs with the intention to fill the roles by January 2027.
Its solution leverages machine learning to monitor cattle without physical devices. CattleEye is active on more than 140 farms across the U.K., U.S., Europe and Australia. GEA plans to integrate CattleEye’s technology into its herd management systems and to extend the organization’s digital footprint in farming.
“These aspired new functionalities mean farmers can expect offerings which help reduce additional investments in equipment that often aren’t accurate and reduce the extent of necessary animal treatment,” Terry Canning, CattleEye’s co-founder, said in a statement. “It will also help customers to farm more efficiently and cut greenhouse gas emissions by using automated data.”
In growing its team, CattleEye plans to hire across software engineering and user experience executive roles. This new team will strengthen CattleEye’s position in GEA’s global operation and enhance Northern Ireland’s reputation as a hub for agtech.
