Main purpose of the role & responsibilities in the business:

As a Test Consultant (Senior Associate) within Kainos Workday Test Services, you will help customers deliver successful, low-risk Workday implementations through structured and effective test consultancy, test preparation and test management. You will work with experienced test specialists, customer stakeholders and either Kainos implementation teams or third-party implementation partners where Test Services is engaged separately from the implementation. This role is suited to someone who is genuinely interested in building a career in testing, enjoys understanding how business processes work and is motivated to develop their Workday and quality assurance expertise.

You will be responsible for:

• Delivering testing services to our customers – work with customers and their implementation teams to support high-quality Workday implementations and releases through test consultancy, test preparation and test management

• Understanding customer needs and Workday designs – review scope, process designs, configuration and business priorities to understand what needs to be tested and where risk is greatest.

• Supporting test strategy and planning – contribute to test objectives, scope, roles, governance, environments, data, entry and exit criteria, reporting and delivery plans.

• Preparing effective test scenarios – participate in test design workshops and create clear, traceable Unit, end-to-end scenarios, including roles, test data, expected outcomes and cross-workstream touchpoints.

• Supporting client-led test execution – coordinate and monitor execution undertaken by customer’s test team, provide guidance on progress and evidence, and help the customer work through blockers and retesting.

• Supporting issue management and quality risk – help customers manage the issues they raise during testing by supporting triage, maintaining clear ownership and status, coordinating with the relevant implementation team on investigation and resolution, and providing visibility of risks, dependencies and readiness.

• Reporting and assuring delivery – maintain accurate test information, produce clear status updates and dashboards, and contribute to quality gates, go-live readiness and test closure activities.

• Building customer capability – explain Workday testing approach and deliverables clearly, support customer testers and subject matter experts, and share practical knowledge that helps teams test confidently.

• Developing your testing career – build your knowledge of testing methods, Workday and relevant business domains through project experience, coaching, feedback and continuous learning.

• Contributing to continuous improvement – help improve our test approaches, scenario assets, templates, tools and ways of working based on lessons from customer engagements.

• Working as part of a team – deliver as part of a supportive, collaborative team of test and Workday specialists. You will work alongside customers and collaborate effectively with either Kainos implementation teams or third-party implementation partners, depending on how Test Services has been engaged.

Minimum (essential) requirements:

• You do not need to be working as a tester at present, but you must have a genuine interest in building a long-term career in software testing aas well as experience of, or exposure to, manual testing, quality assurance, business analysis, software delivery or test consulting.
• An analytical and inquisitive mindset, with an interest in understanding business processes, systems and how they should work.

• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate, high-quality work.

• Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to work with customers and colleagues across distributed teams.

• A customer-focused, collaborative approach and a willingness to ask questions, learn from others and share knowledge.

• Ability to organise and prioritise your workload, meet deadlines and raise risks or blockers promptly.

• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, including in a remote working environment.

• A proactive, positive approach to learning new tools, methods, business domains and technologies.

• Good commercial awareness and an understanding of the importance of scope, quality, risk and delivery commitments.

Desirable:

• Understanding of test planning, scenario design, client-led test execution coordination, issue management, regression testing or test reporting.
• Hold a current Workday certification 

• Experience with cloud-based business applications such as ERP, HCM, Financials, Payroll or CRM.

• Experience working with test management or collaboration tools, such as Smartsheet, Azure DevOps or Jira.

• A relevant qualification or degree is helpful but not essential; equivalent practical experience and a clear commitment to developing as a tester are equally valued.
