Tech for Social Good (TFSG) drives impact in our communities through the skills of our tech workforce. We leverage skilled volunteerism of our tech employees to build tech capacity for socially focused organizations and increase access to tech experiences for community members (e.g., youth, adults and senior citizens). We do this through ideation and hackathon-style events, pro-bono tech solution delivery, consultation services, and educational offerings. TFSG partners with various stakeholders across the firm, including HR, Corporate Responsibility, Communications/Marketing, and Legal to serve communities and technology staff across our 23 global technology center locations.
Key TFSG Programs:
Education: We collaborate with organizations and educate our communities to enhance their technology skills by leveraging the services of our tech workforce.
Examples:

  • Cyber Safety for Good - We align JPMorganChase volunteers to educate youth, parents/adults and senior citizens about being safe and secure online.
  • GenerationTech - Design-based technology challenges where students (ages 14 to 18) work in teams to ideate a technical solution to address a social good challenge.

  • Workshops - On-demand education and skill-building workshops to enhance the skills of our community members, increase their digital literacy and enable individuals to thrive in today's rapidly changing world.

Consultation: We advise and consult organizations on their strategic and tactical tech needs to help define their long-term vision, tech roadmaps and digital journey.
Example:

  • Tech Consultation - We connect socially focused organizations with JPMorganChase staff who use their skills, knowledge and experiences to consult them and help define a long-term vision, tech roadmap and/or enhance their digital journey.

Ideation: We help organizations ideate on blue-sky challenges during hackathon-style events with creative tech minds from the community and our workforce.
Examples:

  • Code for Good - Hackathons offering a safe innovation space for nonprofits to propose a challenge to technologists (typically university students) who are mentored by JPMorgan Chase volunteers. We help organizations think through their biggest tech challenges, visualize blue-sky ideas for the future, and prioritize next steps in their tech journey.
  • Data for Good - Hackathons offering a safe innovation space for nonprofits to envision how data driven insights can drive their mission forward. We help nonprofits think through their organizational goals, uncover trends, and review recommendations presented by teams of university students and JPMorganChase employees.

Delivery: We build and deliver sustainable tech and data solutions for organizations to help advance their missions.
Example:

  • Force For Good - We connect socially focused organizations with JPMorganChase staff, who build and deliver tech, data and design solutions (like websites, CRMs, Learning management systems, data modelling and analytics, etc.) to help them advance their missions.

What you need to know about the Belfast Tech Scene

If asked to name the birthplace of the RMS Titanic, you might not say Belfast. Similarly, if asked to name Europe's leading destination for foreign direct investment in new software development, Belfast might not come to mind. Yet, both are true. The city has emerged as a tech powerhouse, recently ranked among the best in the U.K. for tech careers — especially for software developers. It also leads the U.K. with the highest percentage of software development jobs advertised.
