As a Staff Software Engineer in Commercial Trading, your expertise will help us on this journey, creating solutions for the business that are robust and scalable, with good observability and metrics, following best-in-class engineering practice.
What you’ll do
Your key accountabilities will include:
- Lead the design, development and delivery of scalable software solutions and integrations, ensuring high-quality coding standards, robust testing and maintainable solutions.
- Provide technical leadership across complex projects, ensuring solutions align with technology strategy, engineering standards and best practices.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, product managers, architects and engineers to design and deliver effective technical solutions that meet business needs.
- Drive operational excellence through monitoring, alerting, incident management and continuous improvement, ensuring reliable and resilient systems.
- Mentor and coach engineers at all levels while fostering a culture of innovation, knowledge sharing and engineering excellence.
Who you are
Your skills and experience will include:
- Proven experience developing high-performing backend systems and integrations, with a focus on scalability, optimisation and maintainability.
- Strong understanding of software engineering principles, patterns and practices, with experience building adaptable and high-quality software solutions.
- Experience with automated testing approaches across unit, integration and system testing, alongside modern development tools and CI/CD practices.
- Technical proficiency across relevant programming languages and technologies, including Java, PL/SQL, JavaScript, Git and cloud-based platforms.
- Excellent communication and mentoring skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders, share technical knowledge and support the development of others.
Desirable Experience
- Knowledge of the Retail domain, particularly around product lifecycle or merchandise and sales planning, is of interest, but not a necessity
