The role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated, process driven Sr. Tax Analyst to join the Tax team and support our indirect tax function.
The ideal candidate will have experience with VAT/GST regimes and be familiar with US sales tax, specifically with respect to SaaS supplies and marketplace facilitator duties.
Experience in a public company environment and with software enablement for indirect tax compliance is preferred for this role. This position will report to the Sr. Indirect Tax Manager, and will be responsible for supporting all aspects of Perk’s indirect tax processes, including systems, tax compliance, audits, research and planning.
This role will be based in London and, while we do offer certain flexibility, the responsibilities of the role require you to be in the office several days per week.
What you will do
Manage global indirect tax accounting, compliance, and controversy activities for
TravelPerk’s subsidiaries, including the implementation, maintenance, and improvement of controls to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
Review and monitor registration requirements and legislative developments in EMEA and the U.S. and communicate the impact of these to the business.
Serve as our internal subject matter expert for all indirect tax matters, manage third-party indirect tax advisors, and liaise with tax authorities as appropriate on behalf of the Company for indirect tax items.
Review indirect tax language on vendor and supplier contracts and advise business on indirect tax impacts of new initiatives.
Take ownership of the indirect tax compliance cycle: prepare, review, and approve VAT and sales tax returns, manage external outsourcing relationships, reconcile tax returns with the ERP, maintain appropriate audit trails and manage and resolve tax audit issues.
Drive the implementation of software enablement for the indirect tax function and maintain the tax engine going forward. Identify automation opportunities to drive process efficiencies, quality improvements, and risk mitigation strategies.
Provide guidance to the finance, accounting, legal, and operational teams with respect to indirect tax matters and partner closely with key members of other business functions and teams on relevant tax matters.
Contribute to customer-facing documentation and support internal training to strengthen tax and invoicing expertise.
Support and drive ad-hoc projects within a broader tax context. Assist in the implementation and maintenance of global tax policies, procedures and controls.
What you need
Minimum of 4 years progressive experience with indirect taxes at an accounting firm,
UK public limited company and/or U.S. publicly traded corporation.
Expertise with cross-border indirect tax requirements (UK and European VAT, GST, U.S.
Sales & Use tax, etc.) including agency models, VAT invoicing requirements, VAT report maintenance, balance sheet reconciliations, and external reporting disclosures.
Demonstrated understanding of US sales taxes preferred, specific experience with
SaaS supplies and marketplace facilitator duties is a bonus.
Exposure to the travel and hospitality sector preferred, specific experience with TOMS regime, US lodging and car rental taxes is a bonus.
Excellent time management in a fast-paced, deadline driven work environment, excellent communication (English), and organizational skills.
Detail oriented with strong trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills.
Strong communicator with desire and ability to build relationships cross-functionally.
Self-starter who can operate both independently with a minimum level of supervision
and within a team environment.

How We Work
At Perk, we take an IRL-first approach to work, where our team works together in-person 3 days a week. As such, this role requires you to be based within commuting distance of our hubs.
