Core Responsibilities
 

Model Design Expertise:

  • Understand and drive the implementation of the creative vision given by the Project Leadership Team (Core Lead Team), nurturing the LEGO design DNA within the Preschool portfolio.
  • Build upon creative briefs and deliver results in the form of LEGO products that live up to our audience design guidelines and principles.
  • Design with the kids at the center, and coach others to consider building complexity, audience appeal, play functions and storytelling using our building systems.
  • Explore, visualize and sketch ideas that can evolve into highly appealing products to our preschool audience and their parents.
  • Create solutions to complex challenges in the model development process.
  • Enhance collaboration with colleagues across LEGO Design and work with different design teams and various internal and external partners in an effective and efficient way.
  • Drive compliance with processes and guidelines to ensure delivery of products that meet our internal quality and safety standards.

Insights & Innovation:

  • Stay updated on consumer insights and trends via internal and external sources, including identifying gaps and requesting new consumer or other insights, while maintaining delivery grounded in those insights.
  • Influence portfolio decisions.

Leadership & Mentoring:

  • Seek, propose & facilitate learning opportunities for building knowledge within own functional area.
  • Contribute to others’ development through mentoring, coaching and feedback within both franchise and reporting line teams and beyond.

As part of the Model Design team, you will maintain a well-rounded overview of the way we develop the different parts that go into the LEGO products, like figures, decorations, and accessories. Your holistic view will ensure the detailed integration of all elements into cohesive and appealing products.

Do you have what it takes?

  • Proven experience with LEGO bricks as a design medium of product design.
  • Ability to translate IP reference material into playful and appropriate experiences for the audience.
  • Ability to coach and mentor new designers and share knowledge within the team. You act as a role model for other model designers.
  • Ability to deliver impactful results and support delivery of other team members.
  • Ability to drive tasks or work streams within the franchise team.
  • Good feedback skills (giving & receiving).
  • Passionate about designing for  the Pre School audience.

Portfolio Guidelines

We’d love to see how you think and build. When submitting your application, please make sure to upload your portfolio, demonstrating:

  • Clear photos or renders of your work, showing original suggestions of LEGO models — both physical builds and/or digital ones.
  • LEGO models ideally appealing to Preschool audience or young kids.
  • Ideally, including reflections on how you envision your models can be played with, what stories they tell, and what experiences they offer.
