What you'll be responsible for:
Circle is looking for a commercial and capital markets attorney based in London to support Circle's business teams in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Reporting to the Assistant General Counsel, this attorney will drive USDC, EURC and USYC use and growth in EMEA digital and traditional capital markets.
What you'll work on:
  • Be a trusted partner to the EMEA-based commercial and capital markets business development teams.
  • Draft, negotiate, and structure third-party commercial agreements.
  • Improve contract velocity by developing and broadening contract templates and terms.
  • Find business-focused solutions to manage legal risk by crafting strategies that resolve issues, improve relationships, and promote opportunities.
  • Provide legal support and guidance on merger, acquisition, and other strategic partnership opportunities.
  • Use and develop AI tooling to accelerate and improve contract processes.
  • Contribute to the broader success of Circle Legal and its Transactions team.

What you'll bring to Circle:
  • 10+ years of commercial legal experience with a mix of commercial and capital market deal experience, including a proven record with ISDA master agreements, clearing agreements, and prime brokerage agreements for a variety of capital markets transactions.
  • Preferred 3+ years of legal experience with Tier 1 U.K. law firm.
  • A passion for innovation and the potential for blockchain technology to transform financial services, especially in the capital markets.
  • Familiarity with Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation, Markets in Financial Instruments Directive II (MiFID II) and Payment Services Directive (PSD2) and working with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and its regulations.
  • A strategic approach to use your legal expertise to find paths to achieve Circle's goals.
  • The ability to clearly communicate complex ideas in an understandable way so our clients can act on them.
  • A commercial orientation to always keep the business objective in mind as you work closely with our colleagues throughout Circle.
  • A strong sense of accountability to own all of your actions and decisions, recognizing the buck stops with you.
  • Qualified and licensed to practice in the United Kingdom.
  • Experience/familiarity with Slack, Apple MacOS, Google Workspace, and ChatGPT.
