What will you be doing?

As a Senior Business Analyst at capSpire, your role will provide you with considerable challenges, variety and development opportunities in a client-facing environment. You will work as part of a core team delivering exciting and complex programmes for our clients such as power & gas utilities, oil majors, and commodity trading houses. You will be responsible for identifying and documenting business requirements and working in partnership with technical teams to determine feasible solution options. You will drive the requirement discovery journey in partnership with the client and help to facilitate requirement workshops and solution design sessions.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide project analysis to senior management by producing required documentation including business requirements, future state proposals, UAT plan, use cases, sequence diagrams, and scope matrix.
  • Analyse and precisely document the business and systems requirements.
  • Translate business requirements into functionality and assess the risks, feasibility, opportunities, and business impacts of various solution options.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Business and the IT teams to assist or gather the business requirements needed for system modifications, enhancement, and implementation of strategies.
  • Run requirement-gathering workshop with business users and key stakeholders
  • Assess and model processes, data flows, and technology to understand the bottlenecks and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Create clear documentation to communicate requirements and related information; keep updated to align with the solution over the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure traceability of requirements from business needs and requirements, through testing and scope changes, to the final solution.
  • Interact with software suppliers, designers and developers to understand software limitations, deliver elements of system and database design, and ensure that business requirements and use cases are handled.
  • Create acceptance criteria and validate that solutions meet business needs through defining and coordinating testing.
  • Understand and stay abreast of relevant architectures and technologies related to a business area.
  • Support stakeholder management activities including facilitation of large design sessions.
  • Not only help define the solution but help the client to drive the delivery of that solution.
  • Mentor, train and coach more junior members of the team

Required Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years of Commodity or Energy Trading industry experience with 3+ years of Business Analysis experience.
  • Experience working in commodities trading with a comprehensive understanding of the trading lifecycle.
  • Some experience in working with ETRM systems.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent Problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Technical skills, like SQL, are advantageous
  • Experience working on large implementations or transformation projects/programs
  • Demonstrates concern and aptitude for considering the user’s perspective in IT development and has a deep understanding of IT and data solutions.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working with the Allegro or Endur ETRM Platforms
  • Experience with European Natural Gas Markets
  • Experience with European Power Markets.
  • Experience with Microsoft Visio or similar processing modelling tool
