Mō te tūranga | About the Role
As a Senior Business Analyst, you will help shape and deliver meaningful change by working across product, operations, technology, engineering, risk and design to turn business needs into clear, achievable outcomes.

You will lead analysis from early discovery through to delivery. This includes defining problems and outcomes, exploring process, data, system and customer impacts, clarifying requirements, assessing options, and maintaining alignment as solutions evolve.

This is a hands-on senior role. You will bring structure to ambiguity, facilitate effective decisions, communicate complex information clearly, and support others to lift the quality and consistency of analysis across the work.

  • Lead discovery and analysis to define the problem, desired outcomes, scope, assumptions, constraints and measures of success.
  • Elicit, analyse, prioritise and document business, customer, process, data and system needs, selecting fit-for-purpose techniques for the work.
  • Translate needs into clear business and functional requirements, detailed user stories, acceptance criteria, models and other analysis artefacts, with traceability through delivery.
  • Analyse current and future-state processes, customer journeys, business rules, information flows, integrations and system impacts.
  • Partner with Product Owners, delivery leads, engineers, testers, designers, change practitioners, risk specialists and frontline teams to refine options and support quality delivery.
  • Facilitate workshops and decision-making forums that surface perspectives, resolve ambiguity and build shared understanding.
  • Identify dependencies, risks, gaps and operational impacts early, and support practical plans for business readiness, change adoption and transition.
  • Support option assessment, supplier evaluation, business cases, benefits measures and governance artefacts where required.
  • Keep analysis current, proportionate and accessible so teams can make informed decisions and maintain shared understanding.
  • Provide thought leadership and influence decision-making by bringing analytical rigour, evidence and customer perspectives to complex business challenges.
  • Coach and mentor analysts, share effective practices and contribute to continuous improvement of the Business Analysis craft.

Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring?

  • Experience in banking and/or consulting environments would be advantageous, but is not essential.
  • Substantial senior-level Business Analysis experience delivering complex change across business and technology environments.
  • A broad analysis toolkit spanning discovery, requirements, process, data, systems, customer experience, options analysis and impact analysis
  • A future-focused mindset, with the curiosity and confidence to leverage AI and emerging technologies to enhance decision-making, accelerate delivery and elevate Business Analysis practices
  • Experience working across multiple delivery approaches, such as Agile, Waterfall and Kanban, and the judgement to adapt your approach to the context.
  • Strong facilitation, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, including the ability to work constructively across different levels and disciplines.
  • The ability to explain complex business and technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Confidence working with ambiguity, testing assumptions, asking constructive questions and bringing evidence to decisions.
  • A collaborative, pragmatic and outcome-focused approach, with a strong commitment to customer value and quality delivery.
  • Experience coaching or mentoring analysts and helping teams strengthen analysis practices.

What you need to know about the Belfast Tech Scene

If asked to name the birthplace of the RMS Titanic, you might not say Belfast. Similarly, if asked to name Europe's leading destination for foreign direct investment in new software development, Belfast might not come to mind. Yet, both are true. The city has emerged as a tech powerhouse, recently ranked among the best in the U.K. for tech careers — especially for software developers. It also leads the U.K. with the highest percentage of software development jobs advertised.
