Responsibilities include budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking, financial reporting, benefits and investment performance monitoring, variance analysis, risk identification, funding support, and financial governance. Coordinate engagement with payment industry bodies, regulators, standards organizations, and external stakeholders. Monitor regulatory and standards changes, manage attestations and audits, support testing and implementation, and drive improvements to controls, resilience, compliance, and reporting across payment services.

Lead payment technology engineering by directing application development, architecture, coding standards, DevOps, quality practices, and technical roadmaps. Mentor developers, guide technical decisions, manage risks, promote modernization, and collaborate with product and technology leaders to deliver resilient, scalable payment systems. Responsibilities include interpreting Visa, Mastercard and UnionPay requirements; maintaining obligations, waivers and remediation registers; coordinating governance, reporting, audits and attestations; assessing scheme changes; translating requirements into business, technology, operational and vendor accountabilities; overseeing third-party compliance delivery; and managing risks, breaches, controls and stakeholder relationships.

Leads Westpac New Zealand’s Open Finance domain, including strategic positioning, industry participation, regulatory obligations, standards, governance, and ecosystem relationships. Represents the bank with regulators, standards bodies, fintechs, and industry groups; translates regulatory and industry changes into business recommendations; coordinates consultation responses; and partners across product, technology, risk, legal, compliance, and operations to evolve Open Finance capabilities.

Lead Westpac’s payment systems modernisation readiness by assessing payment ecosystem evolution, emerging technologies, capability gaps, dependencies, risks, and investment opportunities. Develop recommendations and business cases, advise senior leaders and governance forums, engage strategic partners and industry bodies, identify partnership opportunities, and build organisational understanding of future payment developments through stakeholder education and thought leadership.

Leads Westpac New Zealand’s domestic payments domain, including payment rails, clearing arrangements, industry standards, participation obligations, and operating frameworks. Represents Westpac with regulators, industry bodies, and ecosystem participants; shapes strategic positions and responses to regulatory and industry change; oversees governance, risk, resilience, compliance, and continuous improvement; and partners with Product, Technology, Risk, Operations, and other teams on payment capabilities and opportunities.

Leads Westpac New Zealand’s high-value and international payments domain, including payment rails, clearing and settlement, industry standards, regulatory obligations, governance, risk, resilience, and operating frameworks. Represents Westpac in regulatory and industry forums, shapes strategic positions, translates regulatory and standards changes into business actions, coordinates consultation responses, and partners across product, technology, risk, legal, compliance, and operations.

Leads enterprise compliance with Visa, Mastercard, PCI DSS, and related card scheme obligations across issuing, acquiring, ATM, agency banking, and payment activities.
