We are looking for a Senior Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team in Dunmurry. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated finance professional who wants to take the next step in their career while gaining broad exposure to management accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and process improvement.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you'll play a key role in supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts, ensuring accurate financial reporting and helping drive continuous improvements across finance processes. This position offers a blend of routine accounting responsibilities and commercial finance exposure within a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
What you’ll be doing
- Preparing and assisting with the delivery of monthly management accounts.
- Completing profit & loss and balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of any issues.
- Supporting month-end close activities, including journal postings, accruals and prepayments.
- Producing financial reports, analysis and commentary for review by senior finance stakeholders.
- Analysing actual performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying and investigating variances.
- Supporting budgeting and forecasting cycles through data gathering and analysis.
- Assisting with year-end audit activities, preparing audit schedules and supporting documentation.
- Maintaining strong financial controls and ensuring compliance with internal processes and procedures.
- Identifying opportunities to improve reporting processes, controls and efficiencies across the finance function.
- Working closely with wider business functions, including Group Finance, Tax, Compliance and Operational teams.
- Providing ad hoc financial analysis and support to the Finance Manager and wider leadership team.
- ACCA, ACA or CIMA qualified, finalist, or nearing qualification.
- Previous experience in a finance role with exposure to management accounts preparation.
- Experience performing balance sheet reconciliations and supporting month-end processes.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including working with large data sets, Pivot Tables and lookups.
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to build relationships across the business.
Desirable
- Experience supporting budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Exposure to financial reporting and variance analysis.
- Previous involvement in audit preparation and year-end processes.
- Experience identifying and implementing process improvements.
