Quality Engineer
Location: Campsie, Londonderry (Vertiv Site)
Reporting to: Plant Quality Manager
Environment: Hands-on, high-mix engineered manufacturing (LV/MV switchgear for data centres & critical infrastructure)
About the Role
We are looking for a proactive and hands-on Quality Engineer to join our team at the Vertiv Campsie site. This is a critical role focused on driving prevention-led quality, ensuring our products and processes consistently deliver right-first-time results for our customers.
You will play a key role in strengthening process discipline, reducing defects at source, and embedding ISO 9001:2015 and Vertiv Operating System (VOS) principles into daily operations.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being on the factory floor, influencing teams, solving problems, and preventing issues before they occur.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive day-to-day quality assurance across manufacturing operations
- Lead RCCA / CAPA activities using structured problem-solving tools (8D, 5 Whys, Ishikawa)
- Manage NCRs and non-conformance workflows end-to-end
- Implement prevention-led quality improvements using VOS principles
- Conduct layered process audits on critical-to-quality activities
- Support first-off / first-article verification to ensure production readiness
- Govern deviation and concession control, ensuring risk and traceability
- Analyse quality data (Pareto, trends, COPQ) to drive action
- Collaborate closely with Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain
- Support supplier quality issues and SCAR follow-up
- Coach teams on quality standards, defect prevention, and escalation
- Ensure audit readiness and compliance with ISO 9001:2015
Key Skills & Experience (Essential)
- Experience in a Quality Engineer / Manufacturing Quality role
- Strong background working in a hands-on factory environment
- Proven experience with:
- Root cause analysis & corrective actions
- NCR management and non-conformance control
- Process audits and quality improvement
- Ability to read engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical specifications
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015
- Experience in high-mix or engineered-to-order environments
- Strong data analysis skills (Excel, trend analysis, reporting)
Desirable Experience
- Electrical manufacturing (switchgear, panel build, electro-mechanical)
- LV/MV products or critical infrastructure environments
- Lean / Six Sigma exposure
- Supplier quality or supplier development experience
- APQP, PFMEA, control plans

- Degree / HNC / HND / Apprenticeship (or equivalent experience) in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Quality
