This is a hybrid position, combining the best of both worlds - working from home and spending time in our Halifax or Reading office.

  • Identify and escalate risks and issues related to testing throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with IT Principals and Leads to improve methodologies, standards, toolsets, and shift-left testing practices.
  • Contribute to test documentation and ensure quality and consistency in deliverables.
  • Support and guide fellow QA Test Analysts in applying best practices and governance.
  • Communicate testing progress to stakeholders and stay current with industry standards and trends.

What you’ll need to succeed?

  • Testing capability: Experienced in end-to-end testing, defect management, and applying modern methodologies like TDD and BDD.
  • Analytical and communication skills: Strong problem-solving ability and clear documentation of both technical and non-technical information.
  • Organisation and independence: Manages multiple priorities with accuracy, working autonomously and maintaining attention to detail.
  • Stakeholder collaboration: Engages effectively and respectfully with stakeholders, influencing outcomes through proactive communication.
  • Commitment to improvement: Receptive to feedback, dedicated to enhancing testing processes, and supporting team development.
  • Professional qualifications and tools expertise: ISTQB Foundation certified (or equivalent) with hands-on experience in applying quality assurance policies and using testing tools to meet acceptance criteria.

What you need to know about the Belfast Tech Scene

If asked to name the birthplace of the RMS Titanic, you might not say Belfast. Similarly, if asked to name Europe's leading destination for foreign direct investment in new software development, Belfast might not come to mind. Yet, both are true. The city has emerged as a tech powerhouse, recently ranked among the best in the U.K. for tech careers — especially for software developers. It also leads the U.K. with the highest percentage of software development jobs advertised.
