We’re looking for a Principal, Engineering Operations to join our team and help shape and scale our engineering organisation. We enable our teams to affect change with speed, ease and confidence. You will work closely with the Engineering Leadership team and across all product delivery teams to improve alignment, speed, and operational consistency. • Be part of a team that drives common approaches that make it simpler for the teams and leaders allowing them to focus on the big picture problems

  • Advocate for best practices in tools and instrumentation, eg. addressing data integrity issues
  • Offer insights for decision making around the flow of work through the product organisation and where the bottlenecks are
  • Provide insights to the business by helping out teams to track metrics that align to business outcomes
  • Building and maintaining cool dashboards in JIRA, Confluence, Compass that show us where we are at and if we are going to make our marks
  • Have the organisation build the muscle to self-organise around the set of defined, measurable outcomes you have landed and helped communicate.
  • Ad hoc projects which require managing / leading / driving in various part of the business - these will grow in complexity over time
  • Inbed and hand off change to product management, engineering and operations owners

Requirements

Skills & Experience

  • Experience and openness towards using AI to improve your own day to day work as well as the rest of the Engineering organisation
  • Business acumen, including financial literacy, business models, planning, change and project management skills, goal setting and organisation design
  • Exposure to product strategy, product management, and/or program marketing in SaaS company
  • Expertise in Agile and scrum development practices
  • Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, MixPanel, SalesForce, PowerBI and other tools
  • Exceptional PowerPoint and Excel skills — you can turn complex data into beautiful, crisp presentations
  • Detail-oriented and able to handle multiple projects with tight deadlines
  • Comfortable working with senior stakeholders and handling confidential information

What you need to know about the Belfast Tech Scene

If asked to name the birthplace of the RMS Titanic, you might not say Belfast. Similarly, if asked to name Europe's leading destination for foreign direct investment in new software development, Belfast might not come to mind. Yet, both are true. The city has emerged as a tech powerhouse, recently ranked among the best in the U.K. for tech careers — especially for software developers. It also leads the U.K. with the highest percentage of software development jobs advertised.
