Our Operations groups are the core of all activity at the Firm and have significant impact across the lifecycle of a trade. We partner extensively with a range of internal stakeholders such as Front Office Sales and Trading Desks, Compliance, Legal, Finance and HR; alongside having significant interaction with our external client base, playing a key role in the overall client experience. We have a client relationship group dedicated to overseeing service performance and strategic partnerships with top tier clients, where we play a key role in supporting global clients to ensure they have a first-class experience when doing business with Citi.

Our roles entail ensuring we operate in a robust control environment, whilst in a fast-paced workplace. We work closely with our external global peers, partners, and regulators, and play an integral part in leading an agenda at the forefront to optimize and streamline processes and drive strategy across our industry.

What you’ll do

This is a senior management role within Markets Ops COO organization. Markets Ops COO comprises of program execution, regulatory and control management, and business execution.

The role holder will sit within the Controls and Reg Management organisation, where they will lead the Operations Controls function for Margin & Collateral Optimization Operations, responsible to set the strategy for oversight over the respective Markets Operations group and to ensure we have appropriate controls, governance, and frameworks in place for execution.  The role will combine specialist expertise in Operational risk and controls management, to drive and implement the strategy across Global businesses and regions.

The team’s remit includes:

  • Operational Risk Events (ORE) – acting as Escalation Champion within the global function ensuring events are reviewed, documented, and escalated effectively
  • Issue Remediation – ensuring remediation plans are thoughtful, fully remediate the issue and are delivered effectively
  • Risk & Controls Governance Forums – chair Global Risk & Control forums and actively partake in wide range of Risk & Controls Governance meetings throughout the org
  • Risk Identification & Control Reviews – proactively lead targeted reviews to identify areas of risk and remediation required
  • Lessons Learned – perform holistic read across of ORE to ensure themes and lessons are understood and implemented within Markets Operations
  • 2nd/3rd Line of Defence Engagement- ensure effective communication channels between the 3 Lines of Defence, acting as Risk & Control SME for Markets Ops
  • Advisory – act as trusted advisor to Senior Operations Management on all matters relating to Risk & Controls impacting their operations unit

Specifics of the role include:

Organizational Oversight:

  • Overseeing and leading daily core team, maintaining a culture and environment where processes, risks and controls are continually monitored, and potential risks escalated on a timely basis as well as acting as a senior point of escalation.
  • Developing an effective control framework that fully meets Audit, Compliance and Regulatory requirements; delivery of periodic presentations to external regulators as required.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and re-align processes to ensure an optimal organizational structure for best-in-class risk management of Operation functions.
  • Participate in senior regulatory governance forums as required. Help drive comprehensive KPIs/Metrics for senior executive consumption – for each product and function, working in close partnership with the product Leaders.
  • Analyse metrics for trends and lessons learned.
  • Partner with the Ops product leaders to understand and update process flows, controls, challenges and potential solutions and present opportunities to senior management.
