Position Summary

The Logistics Supervisor is responsible for leading the day-to-day logistics operation, ensuring the efficient movement of materials, finished goods, and shipments while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, accuracy, and delivery performance. The successful candidate will supervise a team of warehouse and logistics personnel, coordinate daily workloads, and work closely with Production, Planning, Procurement, and Customer Service to support manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support the daily activities of the logistics and warehouse team. 
  • Allocate labour and resources to meet operational priorities and delivery schedules. 
  • Ensure the safe receipt, storage, movement, and dispatch of materials and finished goods. 
  • Monitor inventory accuracy through cycle counting and stock control activities. 
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments with transport providers. 
  • Ensure all shipping documentation is completed accurately and on time. 
  • Maintain compliance with health & safety, environmental, and company procedures. 
  • Monitor key logistics KPIs including: 
    • On-time dispatch 
    • Inventory accuracy 
    • Picking accuracy 
    • Shipping performance 
    • Productivity 
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions. 
  • Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives across warehouse and logistics operations. 
  • Support production by ensuring materials are delivered to the manufacturing floor in line with production schedules. 
  • Train, coach, and develop logistics team members to improve performance and engagement. 
  • Conduct regular team meetings, performance reviews, and return-to-work discussions where required. 
  • Ensure equipment such as forklifts and material handling equipment is operated safely and maintained appropriately. 
  • Work collaboratively with Production, Planning, Procurement, Quality, Engineering, and Customer Service to resolve operational issues. 
  • Support audits and ensure compliance with ISO standards and company policies. 

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience supervising a warehouse or logistics team within a manufacturing environment. 
  • Strong understanding of warehouse operations, inventory control, and material flow. 
  • Experience coordinating inbound and outbound logistics. 
  • Good knowledge of health and safety legislation within a warehouse environment. 
  • Experience using ERP or Warehouse Management Systems (SAP, Oracle, JDE or similar). 
  • Strong leadership and people management skills. 
  • Excellent organisational and planning abilities. 
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. 

Desirable

  • Third-level qualification in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related discipline. 
  • Forklift licence or previous experience operating material handling equipment. 
  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement experience. 
  • Experience within an electrical manufacturing, engineering, or industrial environment.
