About the Team

The Product Attributes & Satisfaction team puts the user and the product at the centre of every decision. We partner with Engineering, Commercial and Quality teams globally, using consumer insight and technical understanding to shape product definition, validate performance, and monitor satisfaction once products reach the market.

About the Role

This role blends deep product insight expertise with strong engineering and systems competency. You will operate at the intersection of consumer understanding and technical product development, ensuring that user needs are translated into clear, actionable direction and robust product definition.
While the weighting of the role is toward product insights, success requires the engineering logic, systems thinking, and rigour.

You will provide programme‑level leadership, act as the voice of authority for product satisfaction, and shape how Dyson defines, validates, and delivers user‑centric performance across categories.

Accountabilities

Strategic Ownership

  • Own the satisfaction and product‑insight strategy for your programme or category, ensuring alignment between user demand, engineering capability, and commercial ambition.
  • Shape medium‑ and long‑term insight approaches, influencing both product definition and development processes.
  • Drive prioritisation of user-led opportunities across product generations.

Delivery of Actionable Insight

  • Translate voice‑of‑customer data into clear, evidence‑based insights that influence product teams and senior stakeholders.
  • Identify emerging user needs, behavioural patterns, and opportunities for surprise & delight.
  • Combine qualitative and quantitative evidence into compelling narratives that drive decisions.

Attribute Target Definition

  • Define early attribute targets rooted in robust user understanding.
  • Cascade user-led performance expectations into clear, verifiable engineering requirements.
  • Apply systems thinking to ensure targets are balanced, feasible, and aligned with Dyson’s quality standards.

Robust Product Definition

  • Champion the user throughout development, constructively challenging engineering, commercial and design teams to make evidence‑led decisions.
  • Use engineering and systems skills to interrogate trade‑offs, identify risks, and guide teams toward solutions that delight users without compromising technical feasibility.
  • Lead cross‑functional alignment when user experience and engineering constraints conflict.

Lead Product Validation

  • Design, lead, and optimise global validation trials to confirm attribute targets and product readiness.
  • Ensure trials are ethical, robust, and designed to answer critical product questions despite prototype maturity, timelines or budget constraints.
  • Integrate engineering behaviour, trial data, and user response to validate that we have built the right product.

Voice of Authority

  • Serve as the authoritative voice for product satisfaction within your programme.
  • Represent the team confidently in senior stakeholder reviews, programme checkpoints, and technical decisions.
  • Bring clarity to complex issues through strong evidence, systems‑level reasoning, and clear communication.

Leadership & Ways of Working

  • Mentor and support junior insight engineers and stakeholders from around the business.
  • Set best‑practice standards for insight quality, evidence gathering, and storytelling.
  • Lead improvements in how Dyson integrates user insight and engineering understanding into development.

Continuous Improvement

  • Drive initiatives that strengthen Dyson’s quality, insight, and validation practices.
  • Challenge existing processes and champion data‑driven, user‑centric methodologies across teams.

About you

Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years' industry experience with a relevant degree; equivalent experience considered.
  • Proven track record in product insight, user research, systems engineering, or quality engineering.
  • Experience influencing at programme level or equivalent.

Essential Skills

  • Strong ability to translate voice‑of‑customer data into meaningful engineering and commercial direction.
  • Engineering and systems‑thinking competency: understanding how product behaviours, requirements and trade‑offs interact.
  • Experience designing and delivering user trials or research studies.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills; able to spot patterns across multiple data streams.
  • Excellent storytelling and communication skills, with confidence presenting to senior stakeholders.
  • Strong organisation and programme‑level project management.
  • Comfortable operating in fluid, dynamic, and ambiguous environments, making decisions independently when required.

Advantageous

  • Strong numerical and statistical analysis capability.
  • Experience in quality management, product validation, or engineering problem‑solving.
  • Ability to influence across technical and commercial functions.

What you need to know about the Belfast Tech Scene

If asked to name the birthplace of the RMS Titanic, you might not say Belfast. Similarly, if asked to name Europe's leading destination for foreign direct investment in new software development, Belfast might not come to mind. Yet, both are true. The city has emerged as a tech powerhouse, recently ranked among the best in the U.K. for tech careers — especially for software developers. It also leads the U.K. with the highest percentage of software development jobs advertised.
