Job Title: Lead DevOps Engineer 
Location: Belfast, Northern Ireland 
Work Arrangement: Hybrid In-Office 

We are seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to drive our infrastructure strategy and delivery pipeline excellence in our fast-paced fintech environment. This role requires a technical leader who can architect, implement, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines whilst ensuring our Azure-based .Net applications achieve maximum reliability, scalability, and security. You will be responsible for establishing DevOps best practices, mentoring team members, and collaborating closely with development teams to streamline our deployment processes. As a technical expert, you'll lead the evolution of our infrastructure automation, monitoring, and operational excellence initiatives. Your expertise will be crucial in scaling our platform to support rapid business growth whilst maintaining the highest standards of performance and availability.

Primary Job Responsibilities: 

  • Design, implement, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines using tooling such as GitHub Actions for .Net applications deployed to Azure 
  • Lead infrastructure-as-code initiatives using Azure Resource Manager templates, Terraform, or similar technologies 
  • Architect and maintain scalable, secure, and cost-effective Azure cloud infrastructure to support business growth
  • Establish and enforce DevOps best practices including enabling automated testing, deployment strategies, and monitoring frameworks
  • Collaborate with development teams to optimise application performance, reliability, and deployment processes
  • Implement comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to ensure high availability and quick incident response
  • Participate in security initiatives including vulnerability management, compliance monitoring, and secure deployment practices
  • Mentor junior DevOps engineers and provide technical guidance across the broader engineering organisation
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance development velocity and operational efficiency
  • Manage and optimise cloud costs whilst ensuring performance and scalability requirements are met 
  • Perform other duties required by Management 

Essential Criteria 

  • BSc or MSc in Computer Science / related qualification OR equivalent commercial experience 
  • Minimum 5+ years of hands-on DevOps experience with Azure cloud platform 
  • Hold current Azure certifications (Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, Azure Solutions Architect, or equivalent) 
  • Extensive experience with CI/CD pipeline design and implementation, specifically using GitHub Actions 
  • Strong experience with .Net application deployment patterns and .NET application lifecycle management 
  • Experience with Azure Functions and serverless architectures 
  • Expertise with Infrastructure-as-Code tools (ARM templates, Terraform, or similar) 
  • Proficient with container technologies (such as Docker) 
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Azure Monitor, Application Insights, or similar) 
  • Strong scripting skills (such as PowerShell, Bash or Python) 
  • Understanding of security best practices in cloud environments and CI/CD pipelines 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure during incidents 
  • Strong communication skills and experience mentoring technical team members 
  • Legal right to work in the UK 

Desirable criteria 

  • Experience with Cloudflare Workers and edge computing technologies
  • Additional Azure certifications (Security Engineer, Data Engineer) 
  • Experience in Financial services industry and understanding of compliance requirements 
  • Understanding of database deployment and migration strategies 
  • Experience with performance testing and load testing frameworks 
  • Knowledge of service mesh technologies and microservices architecture patterns 
  • Experience with disaster recovery and business continuity planning
