About the internship:
The Lancet is a world-renowned medical journal that now comprises a suite of monthly specialty titles in addition to the weekly general medical title established in 1823. All the journals employ full-time professional editors, most of whom are based in our main office in London. We handle a high volume of cutting-edge research submissions and pride ourselves on offering a personalised service to the authors who publish with us. The Editorial Intern would immerse themselves in the daily activities of a peer review editor, with opportunities to experience and assist with other aspects of journal operation such as production, multimedia, communications, and press office.
Responsibilities:
Use Elsevier’s Scopus database to search for experts to act as peer reviewers
Assist with preparation for twice-weekly editorial meetings
Use image libraries to source photographs to illustrate key papers
Attend departmental meetings
Option to shadow other departments such as production, multimedia, communications, and press office
Skills or experiences:
Studying for or achieved a degree in a bioscience or health profession
PC literacy and experience with Office applications
Excellent attention to detail
An interest in critical analysis of health research
