Job Description

We are seeking a seasoned Infrastructure Technical Team Manager (Level 3) to lead our senior infrastructure team in supporting and enhancing a mission-critical, on-premises enterprise infrastructure environment. This role is responsible for the availability, scalability, performance, and integrity of enterprise data centre operations, virtualisation platforms, storage systems, and server infrastructure. The successful candidate will combine technical depth with strategic leadership to ensure operational excellence in a large-scale, high-availability setting.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategic Oversight

Lead and develop a team of Level 3 Infrastructure Engineers responsible for enterprise infrastructure services.

Define team objectives, enforce operational standards, and ensure adherence to enterprise architecture and governance policies.

Promote a culture of accountability, documentation, process improvement, and service excellence.

Act as the primary escalation point for infrastructure issues affecting enterprise operations.

 

Enterprise Infrastructure Operations

Oversee the implementation, support, and lifecycle management of on-premises infrastructure, including:

Windows and Linux enterprise server environments

Virtualisation platforms (e.g., VMware vSphere, Hyper-V)

Enterprise storage systems (SAN, backup/restore, archival)

Identity and access systems (e.g., Active Directory, ADFS, Group Policy)

Ensure continuous availability and performance of systems through robust monitoring, patching, and automation.

Lead technical resolution of high-impact incidents, performing root cause analysis and implementing long-term fixes.

Maintain relationships with infrastructure vendors, hardware providers, and service partners.

 

Project & Change Management

Direct on-premises infrastructure initiatives, including platform upgrades, server refreshes, and data centre improvements.

Ensure strict compliance with change management procedures and enterprise IT governance frameworks (e.g., ITIL).

Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams to support broader digital and infrastructure strategies.

 

Security, Risk, and Compliance

Ensure all infrastructure aligns with internal security policies and external regulatory requirements.

Work closely with information security and audit teams to address risks, enforce access controls, and ensure audit readiness.

Maintain and test enterprise disaster recovery and business continuity solutions for infrastructure resilience.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in enterprise IT infrastructure, with at least 3 years in a team leadership or management role.
  • Strong hands-on experience in managing:
  • Virtualised server infrastructure (VMware vSphere, Hyper-V)
  • On-premises storage and backup solutions (e.g., HPE, Pure, Dell, Veeam)
  • Microsoft infrastructure (Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy)
  • In-depth understanding of IT service management frameworks (e.g., ITIL) and enterprise operational standards.

Preferred Certifications

  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP-DCV)
  • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
  • ITIL v4 Foundation or Practitioner
  • Certifications in storage, backup, or data centre operations

  • Proven leadership in enterprise-scale, high-availability environments
  • Deep technical problem-solving and performance tuning skills
  • Clear communication across technical and executive stakeholders
  • Process-oriented, with a focus on standardisation and operational excellence
