Morgan Advanced Materials is a global engineering and manufacturing business that helps solve some very complex problems. Its advanced ceramics and carbon-based materials are used in everything from healthcare and energy to semiconductors, transport and defence.

With around 8,000 employees across 57 manufacturing sites in 30 countries, communication isn't just about keeping people informed. It's about helping people understand where the business is going, why it matters, and how they can contribute. That's where this role comes in.

We're looking for a Head of Group Internal Communications to shape and lead the global internal communications strategy, working closely with the Chief People Officer, CEO and Executive Team. You'll help connect strategy to people in a way that's clear, credible and engaging, particularly during periods of transformation and change.

The Role

This is a senior leadership role with a strong focus on internal communications. You'll be the person helping leaders communicate the big messages, whether that's business performance, organisational change, acquisitions, restructures, culture initiatives, or the occasional unexpected issue that lands on everyone's desk before breakfast.

You'll lead the Group internal communications agenda, manage external communication partners, and ensure employees around the world receive clear, consistent messaging that supports understanding, engagement and trust.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do

  • Lead and deliver the global communications strategy aligned to the company's priorities and long-term goals
  • Partner with the CEO, Chief People Officer and Executive Team on strategic communications and leadership messaging
  • Develop communication plans for major business initiatives, transformations and organisational change programmes
  • Create compelling executive communications including town halls, presentations, speeches, videos and company-wide announcements
  • Advise senior leaders on effective communication approaches and stakeholder engagement
  • Drive consistency of messaging across business units, functions and regions
  • Lead communications activity during acquisitions, integrations, divestments, restructures and strategic reviews
  • Monitor employee sentiment and use feedback to improve communication effectiveness
  • Strengthen employee engagement through two-way communication channels and targeted campaigns
  • Oversee internal communication platforms, events and digital channels
  • Support crisis communications planning and response in partnership with Legal, HR, Investor Relations and external advisors
  • Manage the Group's external communications agency and key suppliers
  • Lead, coach and develop the Communications Manager
  • Establish meaningful communications metrics and drive continuous improvement
Qualifications

About You

  • Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of how internal, external, investor and reputational considerations connect
  • Comfortable advising senior stakeholders and constructively challenging when needed
  • Excellent writing, presentation and storytelling skills
  • Experience supporting M&A activity, organisational restructuring, integrations or separations would be highly valued
  • Experience managing external agencies and communications budgets
  • Previous leadership experience with a commitment to developing others
  • Calm, practical and measured when dealing with sensitive or fast-moving situations
  • Degree or diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Business or a related field

What You'll Get

  • A genuinely strategic role with direct exposure to the CEO and Executive Team
  • The opportunity to shape communication across a highly international organisation
  • A flexible and well-established remote working culture
  • European location considered, with UK travel approximately 5 to 10 times per year

What you need to know about the Belfast Tech Scene

If asked to name the birthplace of the RMS Titanic, you might not say Belfast. Similarly, if asked to name Europe's leading destination for foreign direct investment in new software development, Belfast might not come to mind. Yet, both are true. The city has emerged as a tech powerhouse, recently ranked among the best in the U.K. for tech careers — especially for software developers. It also leads the U.K. with the highest percentage of software development jobs advertised.
