About the team

Reporting to the APAC (ex-China) General Manager, the Head of ANZ will lead a ~70-person  Commercial team with full ownership of commercial outcomes and market growth. This is a high-impact, externally facing role responsible for driving rapid execution across go-to-market, product expansion, and partnerships, while shaping the culture, strategy, and performance of one of Airwallex’s largest and most important regions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the commercial teams across ANZ

  • Build and scale a high-performing, execution-focused team through effective talent acquisition, retention, and development

  • Foster a high-energy, outcomes-driven culture that prioritizes speed, ownership, and collaboration

  • Act as the face of Airwallex in ANZ, building strong relationships with key customers, regulators, media, and external stakeholders at major events and forums

  • Own and execute the ANZ regional strategy, driving rapid growth through new product launches, go-to-market execution, operational efficiency, and strategic partnerships

  • Partner closely with the global C-suite to align on goals, track progress, and report on key business metrics and team performance

  • Manage the full ANZ P&L, with responsibility for revenue growth, gross margin improvement, and cost control

  • Proactively identify commercial opportunities and mitigate business and operational risks in a fast-paced environment

  • Step in to lead high-priority initiatives or cover critical roles as needed to ensure continued business momentum


Who you are

We're looking for people who meet the minimum requirements for this role. The preferred qualifications are great to have, but are not mandatory.


Minimum qualifications:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in the payments, fintech, or tech industry

  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree from a top tier university is preferred

  • Experience leading and scaling a high-growth start-up, preferably in a leadership position with direct reports and responsibility over P&L

  • Top tier consulting experience

  • Proven experience in managing complex projects and teams


Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience as a Country Manager with a proven track record scaling a developed market
