About UNRVLD

UNRVLD is an experience and technology company. We work with enterprise and upper-mid-market organisations, building the digital foundations and experiences they need to perform, and we put business outcomes first.

We have recently added research, insight and brand strategy to the group through the acquisitions of 2CV, a consumer insight and market research consultancy, and The Value Engineers, a brand strategy and innovation consultancy.
In this role you will own the day-to-day finance work for our group businesses DTAG, 2CV and TVE, reporting into the CFO.

What the role is for

For DTAG, 2CV and TVE, you will run the monthly close and management accounts, the weekly cashflow and the working capital cycle, and play a key part in the audits for our UK, US and Singapore entities. The role covers receivables (including work in progress) and payables, VAT and GST, and the reporting and compliance deadlines that come with them.

What you will own
Five outcomes sit with you:

  • Monthly management accounts, including accruals, prepayments and net revenue, are accurate and on time, with variance commentary, ad hoc analysis, and budgeting and forecasting support for the CFO and budget holders.
  • Month-end and year-end close run smoothly: journals are posted, the balance sheet and key accounts are reconciled, and documentation and audit trails are kept.
  • Internal controls and financial policies are followed, VAT and GST returns and other external deadlines are met, and you play a key part in the audits for the UK, US and Singapore entities, making sure the auditors have what they need when they need it.
  • A weekly cashflow is prepared, accounts receivable (including work in progress) and accounts payable are well managed, and you deal directly with client AR teams and suppliers.
  • You will support in finding and delivering process and cost improvements.

What success looks like

  • Financial reports are accurate at 98% or above.
  • Month-end close is complete within five working days.
  • Reporting and compliance deadlines are met every time.
  • The weekly cashflow is delivered every week.
  • Audit requests for each entity are met to the agreed timetable.
  • Roughly one process or cost improvement is delivered each quarter.
  • Colleagues across finance and the wider business find you easy to work with, as shown in 360 feedback.

What a month looks like

  • Posting month-end journals, accruals and prepayments, and reconciling the balance sheet and key accounts.
  • Preparing net revenue reporting, management accounts, variance analysis and commentary.
  • Preparing the weekly cashflow and reconciling bank and credit card accounts regularly
  • Raising sales invoices and processing purchase invoices, and running accounts payable and accounts receivable, including chasing client AR teams and answering supplier queries. Preparing VAT and GST returns.
  • Working with the auditors on the UK, US and Singapore audits.
  • Updating financial models when asked.
  • Answering financial queries from colleagues, and keeping financial systems and records in order.
  • Managing renewals with a focus on efficiency.

About you
You are an experienced finance professional who has already done most of this work.

Essential:

  • Experience of management accounts and month-end close, including accruals, prepayments and net revenue.
  • Experience of preparing VAT and GST returns.
  • Experience of supporting financial audits, including outside the UK.
  • Experience of accounts payable and accounts receivable, and of preparing a weekly cashflow.
  • Proficiency in Excel and in an accounting system.
  • The ability to explain a variance in plain English to colleagues outside finance.
  • Discretion: you will handle confidential financial information.

Desirable:

  • Qualified ACA, ACCA or equivalent.
  • Experience in an agency or professional services business, particularly work in progress, billing and net revenue.
  • Experience of supporting a CFO in a multi-entity business.

Additional information

**Please note that whilst this role is predominately remote we have a lovely office space in central London with a large team presence, so there will be an expectation that the successful applicant will be happy to attend the office on a regular basis.

Expect some work outside normal hours during month-end, year-end and audit periods.

What you need to know about the Belfast Tech Scene

If asked to name the birthplace of the RMS Titanic, you might not say Belfast. Similarly, if asked to name Europe's leading destination for foreign direct investment in new software development, Belfast might not come to mind. Yet, both are true. The city has emerged as a tech powerhouse, recently ranked among the best in the U.K. for tech careers — especially for software developers. It also leads the U.K. with the highest percentage of software development jobs advertised.
