Overview & Responsibilities

Purpose of the Job

This position is responsible for maintaining necessary procedures and systems for the financial control of ETL UK, safeguarding assets including automated systems, preparing and analyzing the entity’s financial statements, and managing cost accounting, tax accounting, and financial accounting and reporting. The role acts as the primary contact with the entity’s external auditors and ensures compliance with local GAAP and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

Background and Experience

A B.S. in Accounting and a recognized professional accounting qualification (CPA, CMA, ACCA) are required. Proven diversified financial/accounting experience is essential, including experience in manufacturing and service environments, although experience in other operating areas is desirable. High-level analytical skills and strong communication skills are crucial. Knowledge of policies, procedures, corporate governance requirements, and well-structured administrative skills are very important. Equally important is the ability to coordinate and organize large quantities of data within tight deadlines.

Nature of the Job

  • Ensure ETL UK complies with local GAAP, IFRS, JSOX directives, and tax regulations.
  • Consolidate, analyze, and report the financial performance of the entity in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Adhere to established policies, procedures, and internal controls while safeguarding the entity’s assets (cash and cash collection, working capital, IP, reputation, FCPA exposure).
  • Manage aspects of ETL UK's treasury function, maintaining an optimal cash balance and accurate forecasting.
  • Analyze and interpret financial data for various levels of management.
  • Develop continuous improvement practices.
  • Provide support and guidance to local operations and the sales department.

Contact with Others

  • Regular contact with EMA Controller, Corporate Controller, Business Unit leaders, all levels of the Finance organization, and other levels of the organization. Interaction with external auditors, consultants, tax advisors, and financial institutions is also required.

Supervision

Oversee the work provided by the Accountants of the EMA Finance Shared Service Centre for the UK entity, who have a dotted reporting line to this role.

Specific Job Responsibilities/Competencies

  • Day-to-day management of the financial aspects of ETL UK by following established accounting policies, practices, and procedures, ensuring compliance with local GAAP and IFRS, and ensuring timely and accurate financial statements.
  • Safeguard corporate assets and comply with corporate policies, relevant laws, and regulations.
  • Support tax accounting and tax planning efforts to minimize effective tax costs and comply with reporting requirements in a timely manner.
  • Support the development and implementation of effective and efficient automated accounting systems.
  • Prepare calculations establishing standard costs for material, labor, burden, and contract development. Ensure accurate inventory valuations.
  • Provide analysis and recommendations for corrective actions concerning performance against the financial plan.
  • Support the completion of special projects as assigned by the EMA Controller.
  • Review intercompany transactions and ensure that correct transfer pricing rules are used.
  • Control cash collection and the Treasury functions of the UK; prepare entity cash flow.
  • Review and manage UK payroll.
  • Ensure entity registrations are kept up to date.
  • Oversee the UK ERP financial system.
