The Data Privacy/Protection Manager takes day to day ownership of data protection compliance at ERM working closely with other key stakeholders in Legal, Compliance, HR, and IT.  They develop data protection procedures, guidelines, and controls across the data lifecycle from data collection, processing, storage, transfer, and disposal. They also provide technical advice in partnership with Data Protection Officer service providers on matters relating to data protection compliance.

 This role will act as the operational contact in the company, and be familiar with structures, processes, and internal issues. It will be the interface between the ERM and any external data protection suppliers. 

 Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Offering timely and pragmatic privacy advice across the whole of ERM, while balancing regulatory requirements and business interests.
  • Conducting relevant data privacy impact assessments, reviewing how data is used across the business and maintaining relevant registers of processing activities.
  • Drafting responses to data protection questions contained in tenders and client questionnaires.
  • Managing international data transfers and ensuring contracts with a privacy risk or component have appropriate privacy clauses.
  • Responding to data incidents and Data Subject Access Requests including containment, mitigation, and making external notifications.
  • Leading on developing, maintaining and updating ERM’s privacy program including risk assessment, policies and procedures risk assessment, training and monitoring.
  • Horizon scanning for privacy related developments which may affect ERM and helping to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Liaising and managing of external data privacy suppliers

Key Qualifications: 

  • An undergraduate Degree at the minimum
  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in data protection/privacy.
  • Data protection certification such as Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) or Certified Privacy Manager (CIPM) preferably
  •  Experience of working within an international organization and the legal framework within which they operate
  • Capable of managing workload independently, prioritizing tasks, and delivering high quality work
  • Excellent communication skills and excellent judgment
  • Able to build and sustain effective working relationships
  • Enjoys knowledge sharing and seek opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Full-time position based in Europe.
