As a Senior Planning Manager, you will lead a high‑performing, multi‑disciplined team to shape and deliver an impactful, multi‑channel workforce strategy. You’ll play a pivotal role in enabling critical decision‑making through the strategic allocation of resources across retail channels, working closely with Directors and business leaders to drive efficiency and deliver against Nationwide’s strategic plan.
This role sits within the Workforce Performance and Productivity team, responsible for driving retail performance through accurate planning and meaningful insight to achieve the best outcomes for both colleagues and customers. Working alongside peers in the Planning and Insights function, you’ll collaborate to deliver performance improvements that create tangible, positive impact across the business.
We are happy to consider flexible working approaches to help you perform at your best.
This is a 12-month secondment opportunity.
At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.
For this job you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, based at either our Northampton, Swindon, London or Bournemouth offices. If you are aligned to our Glasgow hub (as this is your nearest location), there will be a need to regularly connect with colleagues for collaboration events. This is anticipated to be once a week in Glasgow. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works.
If we receive a high volume of relevant applications, we may close the advert earlier than the advertised date, so please apply as soon as you can.
ResponsibilitiesWhat you’ll be doing

You’ll lead the collaborative development of workforce strategies, progressing towards a more joined‑up, cross‑Retail approach, utilising internal and external data to build forward‑looking workforce insights. By continuously validating workforce assumptions and developing best practice, you’ll help build capability across Retail and key stakeholders, preparing the organisation for the workforce of the future.
