We are seeking an experienced Advisory Manager who will lead a team responsible for providing expert guidance on Customer Due Diligence (CDD) and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) processes.

The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of regulatory compliance, operational excellence and a proven track record in building a leading team.  A key focus will be supporting the Director of Advisory & Oversight to establish 1 LoD advisory capability, based on the provision of subject matter expertise, supporting 1LoD business enquiries and driving consistent, trust-based interactions with 2LoD.

You will be responsible for developing and implementing robust CDD processes, systems and controls to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with local and international regulations.

What you'll own

Leadership

  • Lead and develop a high performing team through effective talent acquisition, onboarding and training programmes.
  • Implement performance management frameworks, including clear performance objectives, regular performance reviews and career development plans to build a high performing function.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture that promotes open communication, knowledge sharing and professional growth.
  • Cultivate a customer-centric culture with a strong understanding of risk and an innovative, proactive mindset to balance regulatory objectives and exceptional customer experience.
  • Develop and maintain an open and positive relationship with internal and external stakeholders, as necessary.
  • Identify areas of improvement and emerging threats and develop comprehensive training programmes to enhance capabilities and expertise.

Financial Crime Expertise

  • Establish an Advisory capability, based on the provision of subject matter expertise, supporting 1LoD business enquiries.
  • Act as a pivot in the flow of information from 2Lod to 1LoD CDD driving consistent, trust-based interactions.
  • Define & implement an E2E Escalation Matrix capturing key escalations, hand-offs and risk acceptances.
  • Act as a guiderail in the approval or exit of the highest risk customers. 

Support and Analysis

  • Supporting transformational change, through SME advisory, serving the interests of 1LoD CDD.
  • Supporting localised/tactical change management with risk-based prioritisation and oversight of expected outcomes.
  • Undertake SME reviews, working with relevant stakeholders, to understand the financial crime risk exposure in respect of new products. 
  • Assist in providing guidance on regulatory requirements and complex queries under the supervision of the Director.
  • Stay updated on evolving regulatory requirements, trends, and industry best practices, sharing insights with the team.

Continuous Improvements

  • On-going review of core CDD Policies & Standards and their translation into operational practices to identify ways to achieve compliance in more efficient ways, supporting a risk-based and proportionate approach.
  • Adopting a more intelligence / data-led and dynamic approach to how we assess financial crime risks on an on-going basis.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to streamline and simplify CDD processes and checks, ensuring efficiency and supporting commercial objectives whilst maintaining regulatory adherence.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Participate in internal forums related to financial crime prevention, supporting the Director's advocacy efforts.
  • Work cross functionally developing key relationships to support efficient, compliant onboarding and the ongoing monitoring of customer relationships.

Operational Support

  • Support the 1LoD CDD Learning Needs Assessment proactively providing insights from the quality of referrals or interactions across the Enterprise.
  • Help identify and track emerging issues or concerns related to financial crime risks and support implementation of relevant change activity to mitigate risks.
  • Support the resolution of issues arising from internal and external audits, assisting with remediation efforts.

Professional Development

  • Actively participate in training programs to enhance capabilities and expertise in financial crime prevention.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team culture by sharing knowledge and promoting open communication.
  • Develop a strong understanding of risk management and maintain a customer-centric approach in all activities.

What you bring

Essential

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in regulatory compliance and operational roles with a strong focus on financial crime prevention.
  • Proven experience in managing and leading teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • knowledge of financial crime regulations, including AML, KYC, and other relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Relevant professional qualifications e.g. Diploma in AML or Financial Crime, CAMs certification.
  • Experience in an advisory or oversight role, providing guidance on financial crime matters, interpreting policies, and ensuring compliance.
  • Proven track record in managing procedures and updates related to financial crime prevention.
  • Experience in preparing compliance advice for prospect clients and managing multiple compliance projects simultaneously.

Desirable

  • Experience in payment services.
    Familiarity with regulatory bodies including FCA or DNB.
  • Relevant professional qualifications e.g. Diploma in AML or Financial Crime, CAMs certification.
  • Experience using tools such as Orbis, Fenergo, Actimize, Salesforce.
