Develops evidence-based online safety regulation and policy for Ofcom, addressing harmful and illegal online content. Responsibilities include researching complex issues, analysing evidence, drafting guidance and policy recommendations, managing cross-functional work, engaging stakeholders, and advising senior leaders. The role may cover AI, age assurance, recommender systems, content moderation, and sensitive online harms such as terrorism, child sexual abuse, and self-harm.

Provide expert technical advice on age assurance and digital identity technologies within online safety regulation. Lead research and evaluations, assess technical feasibility and risks, translate complex concepts for policy and leadership audiences, prepare briefings and demonstrations, monitor emerging trends, and engage with academia, industry, public bodies, and external technical groups.

Supports Ofcom’s supervision of regulated online services under the Online Safety Act 2023. Responsibilities include building relationships with technology firms, assessing user protections and risk assessments, conducting research and analysis, preparing briefings and reports, supporting supervision strategies, coordinating internal stakeholders, and contributing to regulatory initiatives addressing online safety compliance.
