The role requires digital-sector expertise, assessment or internal quality assurance experience, strong communication and report-writing skills, regional travel, UK right to work, and an Enhanced DBS check.

Examiners mark external Level 1/2 Technical Award in Engineering assessments during the summer 2027 marking window. They apply mark schemes consistently, attend remote standardisation meetings, report malpractice or safeguarding concerns, maintain confidentiality, and submit results accurately under tight deadlines. Candidates need relevant Level 3+ qualifications and recent teaching, assessment, training, or occupational engineering experience.

Moderators review centre-marked music technology work, verify assessment decisions against awarding and regulatory standards, produce moderation reports, manage sampling activities, attend standardisation meetings, and provide constructive feedback. They support consistency, identify improvement opportunities, and maintain current knowledge of qualification requirements. The role is remote and flexible, with the main moderation period running from April through August 2027.
