About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled WebLogic DBA / Middleware Platform Engineer to join our business. This role is critical in supporting the modernisation of the Oracle APEX/ORDS platform while ensuring the stability of the legacy systems. You will be responsible for provisioning, configuring, and maintaining WebLogic 14c domains, deploying APEX/ORDS stacks, and ensuring seamless integration with existing infrastructure.
- Provision and secure WebLogic 14c domain: Build, configure, and tune the new domain for ORDS 24.3 + APEX 24.2, including isolated JVM and install paths.
- Deploy & configure APEX/ORDS stack: Apply correct JDBC, pool, static file, and schema connections for APEX; deploy ORDS and validate via /ords endpoint.
- Maintain operational continuity: Ensure Forms/Reports on 12.2.1.4 remain fully functional and untouched during APEX/ORDS upgrade.
- Implement OHS routing and failover tests: Configure and validate reverse proxy routes between legacy and modern domains.
- Automate and document: Create repeatable scripts and instructions for deployment, rollback, and monitoring.
- Proven hands-on experience with WebLogic 12c and 14c
- Comfortable managing Java 8/11/17 alongside WebLogic domains
- Expertise in deploying and managing ORDS & APEX (especially 24.3/24.2)
- Strong with WLST scripting, automation, and silent installs
- Knowledge of reverse proxy (OHS/Apache) setup and troubleshooting
Desirable
- RAC-aware config understanding
- Forms/Reports regression experience
- Familiarity with SSE deployment scripts and legacy config challenges
- Monitoring (JVM health, logs, alerts), performance tuning
