The VP, Product Software Engineering is responsible for the technology strategy for the West region within the Wolters Kluwer Tax and Accounting (TAA) Europe business and for the execution of product delivery for the business, including product platforms and the products built on those platforms. S/he provides executive leadership and is responsible for all aspects of the product engineering organization, including strategy, architecture, delivery of all platforms, products and transformation programs, financial and staff management, and operations oversight. S/he oversees a product portfolio that includes software self-hosted by customers and Software as a Service, delivered to tax and accounting professionals and businesses of all sizes. S/he motivates and builds a high performing diverse and geographically dispersed technical organization. S/he combines technical and software delivery expertise with project and program execution experience and business acumen.
Responsibilities
- Serve as an executive advisor to the regional VP & GM and their leadership team on all matters of technology and product strategy for the region.
- Successfully deliver projects, programs and releases across the technology portfolio.
- Continuously assess and develop strategies and long-term roadmap for the technology platforms supporting the TAA EU business strategy, go-to-market plans and product roadmap. Continually evolve (modernize) the technology base for the TAA EU product and platform portfolio.
- Optimize the delivery of software across the dimensions of time, cost, scope and quality. Continually improve product development practices.
- Maintain a customer-focused orientation and drive the same within the technology organization.
- Work with Product Management, Sales, Professional Services, Support, Operations to understand and incorporate product and platform needs and incorporate them into the product roadmap. Develop an understanding of the tax and accounting domain. Find delightful innovations to deliver.
- Manage organizational finances within constraints of the TAA EU regional P&L to maximize value delivered while minimizing cost.
- Develop a high performing and highly engaged pan-European technical organization.
- Manages time and company resources appropriately.
- Performs other duties as assigned by leadership.
Job Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related discipline OR equivalent experience.
Preferred: Master’s Degree in Information Science, Computer Science, or Information Technology.
Required Experience
- 12+ years of experience leading technology teams with at least 5 years experience leading large (100+ members) technology teams in a senior leadership position.
- Experience in leading global technology teams.
- Experience in leading efforts to build and deliver complex technology systems using multiple project teams for construction, with a minimum budget of $10 million.
- Demonstrated experience of successful delivery of large key projects in a matrixed environment.
- Experience developing project plans.
- Experience leading and influencing business decisions in cross functional, matrixed global technology teams, including external resource management and planning.
- Maintaining strong vendor relationships.
- Proven track record in leading change.
- Demonstrating strong written and verbal communication, fluent in English and at least fluent in 1 language in the region.

Travel requirements
Occasional domestic and international travel is required based on business needs. The expectation is that the VP, product software engineering will be in office 2 days a week and this will be split across the different countries in the region.
