Job Profile
As VP of Product Marketing, you will define and lead the global product marketing strategy for our Workday Products Business Unit. You’ll translate product vision into differentiated positioning and commercially impactful go-to-market plans aligned to growth objectives. You will act as the strategic bridge between Product, Sales, Innovation Teams, and Marketing, ensuring launches, messaging, and enablement drive pipeline, revenue, and retention/upsell. Leading a high-performing team, you will use market insight, competitive intelligence, and product performance data to maximise commercial impact and strengthen our market position.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Own and implement Product Marketing Strategy and Leadership by defining the product marketing strategy aligned to company and Business Unit growth objectives, translating product vision and roadmap into compelling market positioning and commercial strategy. Lead and mentor a global product marketing team, ensuring the right capabilities, structure and performance standards are in place to support current priorities and future growth, while owning the product marketing budget and ensuring investment delivers measurable commercial impact.
Own and lead Product Content Strategy by creating a consistent framework for content: a standard set of deliverables for all products across the customer journey from top-of-funnel through to sales and post-sales engagement. Develop a standard approach for storytelling and narratives to drive customer engagement and interest to inspire and accelerate customer interest in our products.
Own and lead Positioning and Messaging by developing clear, compelling and differentiated value propositions and messaging frameworks that articulate our unique strengths in the market. Ensure consistency and clarity of positioning across all regions, industries and channels, establishing well-defined ideal customer profiles, buyer personas and segmentation strategies. Equip Sales teams with compelling tools, messaging, playbooks and proof points that improve win rates, accelerate deal velocity and increase average deal size.
Own and deliver Go-to-Market and Launch Excellence by defining the global GTM strategy for our products, ensuring strong alignment to commercial priorities and growth objectives. Design and implement structured launch frameworks that drive commercial readiness across Product, Sales and Marketing, partnering closely with cross-functional teams to align campaigns to pipeline goals. Ensure tight integration between product roadmap milestones and commercial activation plans to maximise impact.
Drive Campaigns and Commercial impact Collaborate with SDR and field marketing teams to generate high-quality demand aligned to target segments, and actively support strategic opportunities through messaging refinement, executive engagement and deal-specific value articulation in close partnership with sales.
Lead Market, Competitive and Customer Insight initiatives by embedding voice-of-customer programmes and elevating customer storytelling to strengthen credibility and relevance. Analyse market trends, competitive dynamics and analyst perspectives to inform strategic decisions, identifying whitespace opportunities and supporting robust business cases for new investments and portfolio expansion. Lead competitive intelligence programmes to sharpen differentiation, strengthen sales confidence and continuously refine our market story.
Own Reporting and ROI by defining clear KPIs to measure product marketing effectiveness across pipeline, revenue, adoption and market perception, establishing a culture of measurement, experimentation and continuous improvement, and reporting regularly to executive leadership on performance, insights and growth opportunities.
Putting people first & developing others: You’ll manage, coach and develop several staff, with a focus on managing employee performance and assisting in their career development, supporting a culture of wellbeing and inclusion.
Minimum (essential) requirements:
Proven experience in a senior Product Marketing or Go-to-Market leadership role within a technology or professional services environment, with clear evidence of commercial impact.
Demonstrated success in defining positioning, storytelling, messaging and differentiated value propositions for complex products or solutions.
Strong track record of leading global product launches and executing structured go-to-market strategies aligned to revenue objectives.
Experience partnering closely with Product, Sales, Revenue Operations and leadership to drive growth and market alignment.
Proven ability to build, mentor and scale high-performing product marketing teams in a growth organisation.
Strong commercial acumen with evidence of influencing pipeline growth, win rates and revenue performance incl. retention/upsell
Solid understanding of CRM, marketing automation and data-driven performance measurement frameworks.
Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the executive presence to influence at senior leadership and board level.
Desirable:
Degree or higher in Marketing, Business Communications or a similar relevant discipline.
MBA or other relevant post-grad qualification.
Significant technology/ SaaS experience.
Experience within the Workday ecosystem.
