At NEP UK, we deliver some of the most technically advanced outside broadcasts and live productions in the industry. From major sporting events and entertainment shows to international broadcasts, our engineers work at the heart of live television, using industry-leading technology to bring content to audiences around the world.

We're looking for a Vision Engineer to join our Engineering team and play a key role in the preparation, deployment, and operation of our outside broadcast trucks and flypack systems.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with experience in outside broadcast, live production, or broadcast facilities who is looking to broaden their technical expertise, work on high-profile productions, and develop towards a future Guarantee-level role.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll be involved in every stage of the broadcast lifecycle, from technical preparation and system testing through to live event delivery.

Working alongside some of the industry's most experienced engineers, you'll help ensure our vision systems perform flawlessly in demanding live environments.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the deployment and operation of both traditional SDI and modern IP-based production systems.
  • Supporting engineering teams during live productions, helping to diagnose and resolve technical issues when they arise.
  • Contributing to system upgrades, technical improvements, and fleet development projects.
  • Maintaining accurate engineering records and technical documentation.
  • Collaborating with production teams, operators, and fellow engineers to deliver exceptional client experiences.
Technology You'll Work With

Our facilities continue to evolve as the industry moves towards IP and software-defined workflows. Depending on your experience, you'll have opportunities to work with:

  • SMPTE ST 2110 and IP-based production environments
  • Broadcast networking, multicast, and PTP timing systems
  • Vision mixers, routing systems, multiviewers, and monitoring platforms
  • Camera systems and CCU infrastructure
  • Broadcast control and orchestration platforms
  • Industry-leading technologies from manufacturers including Sony, Grass Valley, EVS, Lawo, Evertz, Riedel, and others
What We're Looking For

You may already be working as a Technical Assistant, Multi-Skilled Operator or Trainee Engineer, or in a similar technical role within outside broadcast, live events, or broadcast facilities.

We're particularly interested in people who:

  • Have experience supporting live broadcast or live production environments.
  • Have a solid understanding of vision systems and signal flow.
  • Enjoy solving technical challenges and fault-finding under pressure.
  • Are keen to develop their knowledge of IP and networked production technologies.
  • Take pride in delivering high-quality work and reliable technical solutions.
  • Work well as part of a team and enjoy learning from experienced colleagues.

What you need to know about the Belfast Tech Scene

If asked to name the birthplace of the RMS Titanic, you might not say Belfast. Similarly, if asked to name Europe's leading destination for foreign direct investment in new software development, Belfast might not come to mind. Yet, both are true. The city has emerged as a tech powerhouse, recently ranked among the best in the U.K. for tech careers — especially for software developers. It also leads the U.K. with the highest percentage of software development jobs advertised.
