About the Role

As a member of our Professional Services team, you will work closely with multidisciplinary colleagues to plan, conduct, and analyse user research that informs the design and delivery of high-quality digital services. You will play a critical role in understanding user behaviours, identifying pain points, and ensuring that solutions are grounded in evidence. With a strong commitment to user-centred design and continuous improvement, you will help shape meaningful digital transformation for our clients.

Responsibilities
  • Lead user research activities across the full project lifecycle, from discovery through to live service optimisation.

  • Plan and conduct qualitative and quantitative research using a range of appropriate methods (e.g., interviews, usability testing, surveys, observations, diary studies).

  • Identify and recruit representative users, ensuring ethical and inclusive research practices.

  • Analyse research findings, synthesise insights, and translate them into clear, actionable recommendations for delivery teams.

  • Work collaboratively with designers, product managers, developers, and stakeholders to ensure research insights directly shape service design and decision-making.

  • Create and maintain user personas, journey maps, service maps, and other artefacts that communicate user needs and behaviours.

  • Advocate for user-centred design, accessibility, and evidence-based decision-making throughout all stages of delivery.

  • Contribute to continuous discovery practices and help teams iterate services based on research insights and usability testing outcomes.

  • Ensure all research activities adhere to relevant ethical, privacy, and accessibility standards.

Skills and Experience
  • Proven experience conducting user research within multi-disciplinary digital delivery teams, ideally in complex or large-scale environments.

  • Strong knowledge of user-centred design principles and experience applying them to digital products and services.

  • Experience selecting and applying the most appropriate research methods to meet project objectives and constraints.

  • Ability to analyse complex qualitative and quantitative data and present insights in a compelling and accessible way.

  • Familiarity with iterative, agile, or scaled agile delivery methodologies.

  • Strong communication and facilitation skills, capable of engaging confidently with strategic stakeholders and supporting evidence-based decision-making.

  • Experience mapping user journeys, service processes, and behavioural patterns to support service design and improvement.

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple research activities simultaneously, and operate in fast-paced delivery environments.

What you need to know about the Belfast Tech Scene

If asked to name the birthplace of the RMS Titanic, you might not say Belfast. Similarly, if asked to name Europe's leading destination for foreign direct investment in new software development, Belfast might not come to mind. Yet, both are true. The city has emerged as a tech powerhouse, recently ranked among the best in the U.K. for tech careers — especially for software developers. It also leads the U.K. with the highest percentage of software development jobs advertised.
