Due to significant market growth and a recently expanded team, our Consumer, Medical & Information Technologies division is seeking an Operations Manager to oversee UK operations in our Basingstoke centre of excellence.
UL Solutions' Basingstoke campus is one of the largest and most advanced Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) & Wireless testing laboratories in the UK. Recently expanded to add new capability, as Operations Manager you will have full operational responsibility for our Radio, SAR and EMC teams.
You will be key to ensuring we achieve operational excellence; by managing the day-to-day activities of the team, supporting and guiding decisions on projects and driving opportunities within a highly matrixed organisation.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- A key responsibility of the Operations Manager is to build and develop relationships across the internal stakeholder groups - service lines, finance, HR, project management, sales, audits and be able to influence, engage and empower them.
- Responsible for the development and achievement of operating plans, goals, budgets, performance objectives and metrics, to execute strategy, with a focus on financials (costs, revenue, profit, enterprise value, etc.).
- Continuous check of resource availability, workload balance, technical support and evaluation of possible alternative solutions by delegating work to appropriate levels for completion.
- Driving a high performing team by managing the performance, development and engagement of team members.
- Building relationships and interacting with customers (internal and/or external), supporting and partnering with management to achieve business objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Business, Management, Physics, or related field
Experience:
- 5+ years of relevant leadership experience
Preferred Certification:
- Lean Sigma Green Belt or equivalent Lean training
Key Competencies:
- Strategic planning, budgeting, and P&L management.
- Team leadership, performance management, and staffing.
- Strong analytical, decision-making, and risk management skills.
- Effective communicator with ability to simplify complex information.
- Experienced in Lean Sigma methodologies and technical leadership.
- Culturally aware and collaborative in diverse environments.
