We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and customer-focused professional to join our Transactional Banking (TB) team as a Transactional

Relationship Manager.

Based in Auckland and reporting to the Senior Manager, Transactional Relationships, you will be responsible for managing and growing a portfolio of business clients by delivering tailored transactional banking solutions.

This role is ideal for someone with a deep understanding of transactional banking, a strong commercial mindset, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer outcomes. You’ll thrive in a high-performance environment and work collaboratively across the wider Institutional and Business Banking (IBB) team to execute the TB strategy and support broader business goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of business clients through proactive relationship management and pipeline development.

  • Deliver high-quality customer engagements with a focus on simplifying and automating banking solutions.

  • Resolve customer issues with innovative solutions that enhance organisational performance, risk management, and user experience.

  • Implement transactional banking products and services for new and existing clients.

  • Contribute to positive Net Promoter Score (NPS) and Customer Advocacy Score (CAS) outcomes.

  • Confidently pitch and negotiate with clients on financial, risk, and compliance matters.

  • Maintain a strong focus on pricing governance, return on tangible equity (ROTE), and performance at both customer and product levels.

  • Identify and generate new business opportunities aligned with clients’ strategic and operational needs.

  • Deep understanding of transactional banking products, services, and market dynamics, with the ability to translate this knowledge into tailored client solutions.

  • Proven experience managing and growing a portfolio of business or institutional clients, with a strong focus on customer needs and long-term relationship building.

  • Ability to align day-to-day activities with broader business strategies, financial goals, and risk management frameworks.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively across the Transactional Banking team and the wider Institutional and Business Banking (IBB) network.

  • A results-driven mindset with the ability to identify growth opportunities and contribute to the execution of the TB strategy.

  • Sound understanding of risk management principles and the ability to apply them in client interactions and portfolio oversight.

  • Clear and confident communicator, capable of engaging with senior stakeholders and presenting complex solutions in a client-friendly manner.

  • Comfortable working in a dynamic environment, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
