About the role 

An exciting opportunity has opened up for a Training & Competence Manager in our Belfast office.

As a Business Analyst, you will play a critical role in supporting delivery across the organisation by helping teams translate business process into clear technical standards and procedures as part of our policy implementation programme. The role will also provide an opportunity to identify process gaps, highlight areas for improved governance and efficiency, while translating these areas into business requirements. This is a business-facing role suited to someone who enjoys working across multiple departments, engaging with stakeholders, and enhancing business processes.

In the role, the successful candidate will: 

The successful candidate will be a collaborative leader with a strong quality mindset, capable of taking ownership of testing across multiple initiatives while driving continuous improvement in quality practices. They will work closely with business and technology stakeholders to ensure quality is embedded throughout the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). 

In the role, the successful candidate will: 

Training & Competence Framework

  • Drive continuous improvement in advice quality by identifying best practice, enhancing adviser capability and supporting the consistent delivery of excellent client outcomes.
  • Maintain and continuously enhance the firm's Training & Competence Scheme.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practice.
  • Conduct regular reviews of T&C policies, procedures and competency standards.
  • Recommend improvements to training and assessment methodologies.
  • Competency Assessment & Supervision
  • Oversee the assessment and sign-off of competent advisers and certified staff.
  • Identify skills and knowledge gaps and implement development plans.
  • Ensure appropriate supervision arrangements are in place for trainees and newly appointed advisers.
  • Conduct competence assessments through:  

o    File reviews

o    Observation sessions

o    Client meeting reviews

o    Knowledge testing

o    Behavioural assessments

Regulatory & Certification Oversight

  • Monitor compliance with applicable certification and conduct requirements.
  • Ensure all regulated individuals maintain required qualifications and professional standards.
  • Oversee annual fitness and propriety assessments.
  • Manage annual competence sign-off processes.

Management Information and Reporting

  • Produce monthly and quarterly T&C reporting.
  • Present competency trends and risk indicators to senior management committees.
  • Monitor:

o    Adviser competency status

o    CPD completion

o    File review scores

o    Quality assurance outcomes

o    Regulatory training completion

o    Competency exceptions

About you  

  • We are looking for somebody who has the following background and skills: 
  • Minimum 5 years' experience within the wealth management, financial planning, investment management or financial advice sector.
  • Strong understanding of a Training & Competence role within Wealth Management.
  • Excellent understanding of:
  • Wealth management and financial planning advice processes.
  • FCA Training & Competence requirements.
  • Consumer Duty principles.
  • Certification Regime requirements.
  • Strong coaching and development skills.
  • Excellent analytical and reporting capability.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.

Desirable

  • Client facing experience in the provision of advice.
  • Experience supporting advisory, investment management and pension businesses.
  • Chartered Financial Planner or Chartered Wealth Manager status.
  • Experience overseeing and implementing T&C schemes.
  • Experience of adviser file review and competency assessment frameworks.
  • Experience of managing or supervising a team.
