Since 2011, our mission hasn’t changed — we’re here to stop breaches, and we’ve redefined modern security with the world’s most advanced AI-native platform. We work on large scale distributed systems, processing almost 3 trillion events per day and this traffic is growing daily. Our customers span all industries, and they count on CrowdStrike to keep their businesses running, their communities safe and their lives moving forward. We’re also a mission-driven company. We cultivate a culture that gives every CrowdStriker both the flexibility and autonomy to own their careers. We’re always looking to add talented CrowdStrikers to the team who have limitless passion, a relentless focus on innovation and a fanatical commitment to our customers, our community and each other. Ready to join a mission that matters? The future of cybersecurity starts with you.
About the Role:
As a Technical Writer for LogScale, you’ll be immersed in the wonderful world of product documentation at CrowdStrike. You will play an integral role in transforming and structuring our content for multi-channel publishing that delivers the right content, to the right user, at the right time. You will also own a small technical writing project, optimize content for reuse, make improvements to generative AI prompts, and learn about CrowdStrike's mission to stop breaches. Your primary focus will be on the methods for getting data into LogScale from customer environments and through third party tools.
What You’ll Do:
Gain experience with structured authoring through hands-on project work writing documentation within our information architecture.
Gain experience and understanding about a large-scale, distributed, multi-petabyte software solution.
Learn about the needs and requirements of a security-focused organization and their customers.
Help develop documentation (hosted at https://library.humio.com) that will grow your technical understanding and technical writing skills and help you develop a user-centered focus to your writing.
Become familiar with industry-standard technical writing tools and processes.
Study and understand a large-scale software development product using our Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), how the product and development works, and how to translate that information into documentation for end-users.
Help develop tools for automating the documentation process and improving the workflow of technical material into user-consumable information.
Develop an appreciation for style and process guides, and their role in driving consistency and scalability in content.
Learn how to read technical code and translate it to customer-focused needs and requirements.
Interact with developers, architects, and product management to build knowledge on technical operation of the product and how that impacts customers.
What You’ll Need:
Writing technology experience, including DocBook, DITA and XSLT
A passion for automation and simplifying the translation of information from engineering code into documentation.
Experience writing product documentation for a software product.
Experience with source control and command line tools, including branching, version control and merging.
Experience in SaaS deployments. Specific experience in the cybersecurity and/or large-scale data industries would be an advantage.
An interest in learning about advanced concepts and tools relating to the field of technical writing.
Programming experience, with the ability to understand complex systems and algorithms would be an advantage, but not necessary.
Knowledge of Java, Scala, JavaScript, Perl, or Python will be advantageous.
Understanding of database technologies and principles, particularly in large-scale and distributed environments; exposure to SQL or GraphQL will be helpful.
Basic knowledge of machine learning techniques involving large learning models.
A strong attention to detail.
Ability to work independently on assigned work, as well as to come up with improvements to content in your area and execute them, and to make suggestions for improvements in other areas of content
A willingness to learn and understand complex systems, work with a team to create and improve content, ask questions, and accept feedback and implement it into your work.
