The Staff Manufacturing Engineer will provide technical leadership, manage engineering projects, improve processes, and oversee plant metrics while ensuring compliance with standards.

Staff Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Contract: Permanent Contract.
Position Summary:
This role will provide technical leadership in the Stryker facility in the following areas:
- Support continuous improvement in manufacturing operation
- Management of significant engineering projects.
- Provide technical leadership from an engineering perspective.
- Ownership of the plant metrics from an engineering perspective.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Take a technical leadership role on one or more projects of significance
- Reports observations/problems clearly and concisely, recognizing and highlighting specific deviations.
- Demonstrates developing engineering leadership skills.
- Ensure quality of process and product as defined in appropriate OS and Material specifications.
- Apply validation principles and requirements to process validation, equipment qualification, building, and facility qualification, test method validation, and/or cleaning validation systems.
- Develop, implement, or review validation documents including user requirements, functional specifications, risk assessment, design description, traceability matrices, process validation plans, protocols, and reports associated with Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), and Performance Qualification (PQ).
- Assist in the evaluation of non-conformance and associated corrective actions.
- Structured problem solving.
- Continuously improve the performance of the process.
- Optimisation of current floor space.
- Provide support to Advanced Operations on technology development and application within the manufacturing process.
- Engage in the implementation of lean manufacture within the Business.
- Train and mentor manufacturing team members and Engineers.
- Interface with Materials Science, Design and Quality Assurance departments to provide customer with a quality product in a timely manner.
- Validation, Appraisal and support of suppliers, and raw materials.
- Support process development and cost reduction activities within the business units.
- Communicate and participate in system and process troubleshooting with support team members and with external agents.
Supervisory Responsibility:
- Providing development and guidance for assigned Co-op /Technician, Engineer.
- Developing and conducting Co-Op /Technician performance appraisals.
- Maybe required to provide leadership to other Manufacturing engineers and or technicians.
Qualifications Knowledge Skills:
- Degree or Masters in relevant Engineering or Science discipline (Manufacturing, Automation, Mechanical, Electronic, Chemistry, Physics, Production etc.).
- 4-6 years’ experience in a relevant position including leadership/influencing skills
- Good knowledge of GMP / FDA regulatory requirements and current Health and Safety Regulations legislation.
- Strong communication and influencing skills with both internal and external agents.
- Confident and effective decision maker, with a proven technical leadership ability to negotiate and influence others.
- Capable of providing technical leadership and, influencing and providing technical direction to Engineers, Coop Students, Technicians, and operators as required.
- Capable of working as part of a multi-disciplined team in an aggressive, dynamic and results motivated environment
- Able to generate and explain extremely detailed proposals, guidelines, and procedures.
- Demonstrable strong analytical & problem-solving skills, a process improvement orientation, and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced and results-oriented environment
- Excellent presentation and written / verbal communication skills
- Demonstrable ability to work autonomously
- Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadline
- A team player, with a flexible approach.
- Technological expert, willing to source, investigate and implement technological and automation advances
- Previous experience with Bartender label design and printing software is preferred
