The Role

We are looking for a Sr. Software Engineer to join the Proofpoint Tessian Flow team. This team oversees the development of some key customer integrations, among them is a Mail Transfer Agent (MTA) that processes inbound and outbound emails, an Outlook COM Add-in and several others.
 

You will be primarily working on the Tessian MTA server which is highly optimised for secure email traffic and integrates with M365, G-Suite and Exchange Server, for both inbound and outbound traffic. It currently serves millions of inbound, outbound and journal email transactions, every day, across the world.
 

You will be joining at an exciting time, as the team prepares to further scale the Tessian MTA server following the Proofpoint acquisition. We are also looking to transition to a new multi-tenant architecture, and to integrate deeper with the Proofpoint ecosystem.

Your day-to-day

In our Flow Team, we deeply embrace the DevOps culture, as we design, build, test, deploy and monitor the integrations. Our day to day involves developing the integrations mentioned above for scale; researching and implementing security measures; and monitoring production environments to discover what’s next for the team using product data.

You’ll be expected to:

• Design and build reliable distributed systems that handle volumes of data with low latency

• Maintain and support business-critical systems where scale and latency are front-of-mind

• Ship code to production weekly using CI/CD

• Tackle the challenges that come with processing highly sensitive data

• Learn to build with security in mind

• Mentor other engineers, review design documents and code, and provide leadership in solving complex technical challenges

• Make your mark on ambitious projects

What you bring to the team

Operating a mail transport agent, is an interesting challenge with significant technical complexity, especially when considering the scale of our traffic and our security guarantees.

Essential Experience

• Proven experience with NodeJS and TypeScript for backend development

• Extensive experience with AWS Lambda, ECS, EC2, CloudWatch

• Experience with Docker for creating and deploying containers

• Prior experience with structured languages and desire to learn .NET

• Leading engineering projects, ensuring their planning, coordination, and execution

Beneficial Experience

• High volume NoSQL and SQL databases such as; Dynamo DB, Postgres

• Terraform built environments

• SMTP protocol, network interfaces

• Experience working with data and infrastructure at scale
