Sr. Software Engineer in Test (Madrid-based)

Key Responsibilities

• Own the quality strategy for business-critical 3D/CAD/CAM software products and drive quality initiatives across multiple projects.
• Define test approaches, quality gates, and success criteria for complex software releases.
• Design, review, and improve test strategies, test plans, and test cases, ensuring comprehensive coverage of functional and non-functional requirements.
• Lead testing activities throughout the software development lifecycle, including estimation, planning, execution, monitoring, and reporting.
• Verify the correctness, reliability, and performance of geometry-intensive software workflows used in digital manufacturing.
• Analyze complex software behavior, investigate defects, perform root cause analysis, and drive resolution of quality issues.
• Build and maintain scalable test automation solutions using Python and modern testing frameworks.
• Drive quality engineering practices within CI/CD pipelines and continuously improve automation coverage.
• Conduct functional, integration, system, performance, and hardware-software validation testing.
• Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Software Engineers, and Architects to clarify requirements, identify risks, and ensure product quality from early design through release.
• Mentor QA engineers, promote testing best practices, and contribute to the evolution of the team's quality culture.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

• 8-12 years of experience in Software Quality Assurance or Software Development Engineer in Test roles.
• Experience testing complex desktop applications, engineering software, or 3D/CAD/CAM systems.
• Strong understanding of 3D geometry concepts, mesh-based models, and geometric data processing.
• Ability to reason about geometric algorithms and effectively validate the results of geometry-processing operations.
• Deep understanding of software testing methodologies, quality engineering practices, and modern SDLC processes.
• Proven experience designing and implementing automated test solutions using Python.
• Experience defining test strategies and leading testing efforts for medium-to-large projects.
• Experience with non-functional testing, including performance, scalability, reliability, and stability testing.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate complex technical issues.
• Experience working in Agile development environments.
• Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  Intermediate to Upper-Intermediate English (B2+).

• Experience with CI/CD platforms and build pipelines such as Bamboo, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.
• Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence, Git, and test management tools.
  Knowledge of SQL and data validation techniques.
• Experience with medical device, manufacturing, or digital production software.
• Exposure to 3D/CAD tools such as Solidworks, Geomagic, or Magics.

• Ensuring quality of highly specialized 3D/CAD/CAM workflows used in large-scale manufacturing environments.
• Testing software that combines complex geometry processing, visualization, hardware interaction, and manufacturing automation.
• Balancing release speed with quality and regulatory expectations in a business-critical environment.
• Driving test automation and quality improvements across multiple applications and teams.

• Become a recognized quality engineering expert in digital manufacturing and 3D software.
• Lead quality initiatives spanning multiple products and development teams.
• Grow into Staff SDET, QA Lead, Engineering Manager, or Software Architect career paths.
• Influence product quality strategy for next-generation digital manufacturing solutions.
