Position Summary

The Senior Manager, Strategic Sourcing & Contract Manufacturing is responsible for managing strategic supplier relationships, contract manufacturing partners, component sourcing activities, and cost reduction initiatives supporting Xirgo's portfolio of IoT asset tracking, vehicle telematics, and video telematics products.


This role leads the sourcing and commercial activities across electronic components, printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs), cellular communication technologies, cameras, sensors, and related hardware. The position partners closely with Engineering, Operations, Product Management, Quality, and Finance to ensure supply continuity, competitive product costs, and successful new product introductions.


The Senior Manager serves as the primary day-to-day commercial interface with contract manufacturers and key suppliers while driving continuous improvement in cost, delivery, quality, and supply chain resilience.


Key Responsibilities

Contract Manufacturer Management

  • Manage day-to-day commercial relationships with contract manufacturing partners.
  • Support contract negotiations, pricing reviews, and service agreements.
  • Conduct regular business reviews with manufacturing partners.
  • Monitor and improve supplier performance related to cost, quality, delivery, and responsiveness.
  • Coordinate resolution of supply, quality, and operational issues.
  • Support manufacturing capacity planning and inventory alignment.


Strategic Sourcing

  • Develop sourcing strategies for electronic components and assemblies.
  • Identify, qualify, and manage strategic suppliers.
  • Execute supplier selection and competitive sourcing initiatives.
  • Support dual-source and alternate-source qualification projects.
  • Monitor market conditions impacting component availability and pricing.


Cost Management

  • Develop detailed bill-of-material (BOM) cost analysis.
  • Support annual operating plan cost reduction objectives.
  • Lead supplier negotiations focused on: 
  • Component pricing
  • Annual cost reductions
  • Material productivity programs
  • Inventory agreements
  • Lead time improvements
  • Partner with Engineering on design-to-cost initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities for supplier consolidation and cost optimization.


New Product Introduction (NPI)

  • Support Engineering and Product Management throughout product development.
  • Evaluate component selection from cost, availability, lifecycle, and risk perspectives.
  • Establish sourcing strategies for new products.
  • Coordinate supplier readiness and manufacturing launch activities.
  • Ensure continuity of supply during product transitions.


Supply Chain Risk Management

  • Monitor component shortages and supply chain risks.
  • Track semiconductor market conditions and supplier capacity constraints.
  • Assist in developing risk mitigation and contingency plans.
  • Maintain awareness of supplier financial, geopolitical, and operational risks.
  • Support business continuity planning activities.


Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Engineering on component selection and supplier qualification.
  • Work with Operations to support production schedules and customer delivery commitments.
  • Coordinate with Supplier Quality to improve supplier performance.
  • Collaborate with Finance on savings validation, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Support Sales and Product Management with supply and cost visibility.


Leadership Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor sourcing and procurement team members.
  • Establish supplier scorecards and performance reporting.
  • Promote sourcing best practices and continuous improvement.
  • Foster strong relationships across internal functional teams and external suppliers.
  • Drive accountability for sourcing objectives and project execution.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Operations, or related field.


Experience

  • 7+ years of sourcing, supply chain, procurement, or contract manufacturing experience.
  • 3+ years managing supplier relationships and commercial negotiations.
  • Experience in electronics manufacturing environments.
  • Experience working with EMS/contract manufacturing organizations.
  • Demonstrated success delivering cost savings and supplier performance improvements.
