Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Cloud Engineer to lead the design, development, deployment, and optimization of cloud infrastructure solutions supporting various U.S. military Modeling and Simulation (M&S) initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in cloud computing, DevSecOps, and distributed systems to support mission-critical simulation environments for defense training, analysis, and decision support.

Experience with defense-specific simulation tools and environments.

Experience with data lakes, event streaming (Kafka), or AI/ML integration in cloud-based simulations.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $118504 - $201457

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Cloud Engineer to lead the design, development, deployment, and optimization of cloud infrastructure solutions supporting various U.S. military Modeling and Simulation (M&S) initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in cloud computing, DevSecOps, and distributed systems to support mission-critical simulation environments for defense training, analysis, and decision support.
- Design, implement, and manage scalable, secure, and highly available cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or DoD-approved cloud platforms).
- Lead the migration of on-premise M&S systems to hybrid or fully cloud-native architectures.
- Integrate cloud services with military simulation frameworks (e.g., HLA, DIS, OneSAF, JCATS, JSAF).
- Develop and enforce Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) standards using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
- Support the deployment of containerized M&S applications using Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.
- Collaborate with software developers, simulation engineers, and cybersecurity specialists to ensure performance, compliance, and security.
- Ensure alignment with DoD cloud security frameworks and STIGs; work closely with RMF/ATO personnel.
- Optimize system performance and cost in support of multi-tenant, mission-focused simulation environments.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to capability development and technical leadership.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (Master's preferred).
- 5-10 years of experience in cloud engineering, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead role.
- Expertise in AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, or other DoD cloud environments.
- Hands-on experience with M&S environments, standards, or federations.
- Strong proficiency in scripting and automation (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
- Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices.
- Working knowledge of DoD cybersecurity policies and RMF/ATO processes.
