Software Engineering Team Lead

Hybrid Working

Location - Swindon or London

Salary: £70,000 - £80,000 + bonus + benefits

We have an ambitious strategy that will see our platform used globally for Edenred and our FinTech customers. Meeting this ambition requires a new approach and a new platform. We are re-architecting our core platform, utilising a microservice-based architecture and leveraging AWS with the aim to be a cloud native platform

Whilst this involves a lot of new tech, people are at the heart of our transformation.  You will be managing and supporting a team of java engineers, helping them to reach their full potential through training, mentoring and on the job opportunities

You will work with other Team Leads to build and run a development centre of excellence creating and maintaining high standards for software development. Building the right culture for collaboration, innovation and learning.

As part of a delivery team you will use your expertise to help drive the delivery of high quality, secure and performant cloud-based services.

What you will be doing:

  • Actively lead and contribute to the design, implementation & testing of the platform

  • Mentor and transfer knowledge to developers of all levels

  • Management of direct reports by:

    • Monitoring the quality of the team’s performance and providing regular feedback against the agreed goals.

    • Career development and training

  • Assessment of new requirements for impact and estimation

  • Take responsibility for the effective resolution of issues as they arise

  • Proactively contribute to the technical evolution of the PPS platform

  • Liaise with other team leaders and architects to ensure technical integrity of the solutions

What we want from you:

Technical

  • Significant commercial experience of

    • Java 8 and above

    • Microservice & RESTful API development

    • Springboot, Hibernate

    • DevOps culture and practices

    • TDD & BDD

    • OO analysis & design

    • Agile practices

  • Experience of the following would be beneficial:

    • AWS services

    • System architecture and Design Patterns
