We’re a profitable video game start-up in London with 15 million monthly players and we’re hiring a software engineering intern to join our 11-person founding team for the summer.
About us
Creating games with editable worlds usually takes 20k+ lines of well-optimised code and large amounts of effort. Bloxd gives you editable worlds in 5 lines of code, within 5 minutes. You can play our games at bloxd.io.
About you
You’re passionate about gaming and excited by the prospect of building great games that bring millions together. You have strong engineering fundamentals and a strong product sense, are eager to wear many hats across game design, UI/UX, and community management, and can iterate quickly on a live product whilst learning from player feedback.
You’re equally excited by difficult engineering problems and by voxel, sandbox, and multiplayer games. You think deeply about what makes these games fun and enjoy building the technical systems that make them possible.
What we’re looking for
You should be studying computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related subject, or have equivalent practical experience.
You should have at least some professional experience in software engineering, either through internships, or scaled side projects.
You could have experience developing games or game engines through side projects.
Things you could work on during your internship
Create and manage your own game
Develop new gameplay systems inside existing games
Build new engine features for use by other game developers
Profile and optimise performance
Develop an in-game item marketplace
Improve our partner implementations, e.g. CrazyGames and Discord Activities
Our tech
We have a TypeScript-first codebase and use a combination of React, WebGL, and Node. This tech allows us to deliver Bloxd in an incredibly accessible way and provides a great developer experience. You’ll need to be happy to pick these up if you’re not already familiar with them.
Internship details
This is a full-time summer internship (for either 2026 or 2027, or 3rd year 6-month placement) based in our King’s Cross office in London. You’ll work directly with our founding team and ship meaningful features to a live product used by millions of players.
Benefits
Competitive salary
A permanent desk in our King’s Cross office
Direct mentorship from experienced engineers
The opportunity to ship work to 15 million monthly players
