Our Guardian Command development team provides mission critical software to UK emergency service agencies, with our primary focus on control room and mobile solutions including Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) and Mobile Data.
Guardian Command CAD has been hugely successful over the last few years, winning almost every competitive opportunity in the Fire market. We aim to continue our success in Fire, and extend our Police presence over the next two years.
Guardian Command CAD is used 24/7 by emergency service agencies to deliver emergency and non-emergency response to ensure public safety. Our solutions are hosted within our secure hosting services, and accessed remotely.
We are a thriving and growing company in search of a Software Engineer to join our Guardian CAD team, which is based out of Leicester, UK. This full-time, primarily remote position offers the opportunity to play a significant role in the development and growth of our Guardian CAD product, initially focusing on the UK Police sector. We are seeking a talented and proactive individual who can contribute to our team’s success and foster a spirit of collaboration within the company.
Job Description
This role is primarily remote with travel occasionally to our Leicester offices.
The role of the Software Engineer is to work as part of an agile delivery team to design and develop the software solutions. You will work closely with the other members of the development team, then Product Manager, and the Software Test Engineers.
You'll be developing mission critical or supporting software to a high standard, including design, development, technical documentation, and testing.
This role is for a Full Stack developer.
Basic Requirements
You’re not expected to have all of the following skills, but they will be useful in performing your job.
Our typical tech stack is C#.NET backend and ReactJS / TypeScript frontend. You aren’t expected to be fully experienced in these, but will be expected to quickly learn these.
We are looking for someone who
- Has experience as a Software Developer or significant experience as a Junior Software Developer
- Has experience building front end systems in ReactJS and Typescript (or similar technologies and is willing to learn)
- Has experience building backend systems in C# .NET, ASP.NET in modern versions of .NET
- Is passionate about writing high-quality code
- Can demonstrate good technical ability
- Understands modern software development practices and principles, such as SOLID
- Understands modern development workflows, including agile process, Git repositories, pull requests
Core Competencies:
- 3+ years of hands-on full-stack software development using C# and ReactJS/Typescript (or comparable frontend frameworks).
- Solid understanding of OOP, design patterns and software engineering principles.
- Experience writing and maintaining meaningful automated tests.
- Strong verbal and written communication and collaboration skills.
Academic and Technical Qualifications:
- You must either have NPPV3 clearance, or be willing to be cleared to this standard, which will involve background checks of you and potentially your family
- A formal qualification (Degree) in Computing Science or equivalent experience
Preferred skills and qualifications:
- UK Police Control Room experience / knowledge
