CommBank Smart Health is Australia’s first end-to-end digital solution for the healthcare industry - providing convenient and secure payment, claiming, and directory capabilities for the healthcare payer schemes, providers and patients. CommBank Health aims to improve patient and provider experiences by offering a wide range of innovative healthcare solutions that include mobile platforms, CommBank SMART terminals, the web and partner product integrations.

We are seeking a talented Software Engineer who will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of our solutions. This role requires expertise in automated testing, platform engineering, and performance testing to deliver high quality software products. You will be responsible for designing and implementing test automation frameworks, ensuring robust performance testing and contributing to platform engineering initiatives that enhance deployment, monitoring, and infrastructure reliability.

We’re interested in hearing from people who:

• Are passionate about building high quality software solutions with comprehensive test coverage.

• Have significant experience in determining appropriate test approaches, development of test scenarios, documenting & executing test cases and defect reporting.

• Are experienced in performing functional, integration, regression, performance, and security testing of APIs.

• Possess sound understanding and/or working knowledge of Test Driven Development (TDD) and Behavior Driven Development (BDD).

• Are experts at writing test scripts using modern test automation tools.

• Have proficiency in working with SQL relational databases/Document DB to perform database testing and ensure data integrity.

• Have strong understanding of DevSecOps practices and their integration into testing processes.

• Can collaborate with developers to integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines.

• Can design and execute performance, load, and stress tests to ensure system scalability and stability.

• Can identify performance bottlenecks and work with development teams to optimize system performance.

• Are constantly thinking outside the box and breaking boundaries to solve complex technical problems.

• Work well in teams and have strong collaboration skills in driving continuous improvement initiatives.

• Possess a Risk Mindset – All CommBank employees are expected to proactively identify, understand, openly discuss and act upon current and future risks.

Tech Skills

We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these will set you up for success in this team:

• Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, SerenityBDD etc.). 

• Write and maintain automated API test scripts using tools such as Postman, SoapUI, Bruno or REST Assured.

• Programming skills in Python, Java, JavaScript, or similar programming languages.

• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.

• Experience with performance testing tools (JMeter, BlazeMeter, k6, LoadRunner etc.)

• Understanding of platform engineering concepts like containerization, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure preferred).

• Knowledge of observability tools for monitoring and logging (Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana).

• Databases - SQL Server, MongoDB, DynamoDB

• Developing backend applications using .NET Core, Rest API design patterns

• Frontend frameworks - Angular

• Knowledge of scripting languages like Bash or PowerShell.
